Since Biden has become president he has been talking about how he is going to make colleges free. Biden has also taken an idea for Se. Bernie Sanders. That idea is to make public colleges and universities free for all students whose family's incomes are below $125,000. Yes, this will relieve the country's $1.6 trillion student loan tab. But will making colleges be beneficial? Will people work hard for their degree if they don't have to pay for it? And if Biden makes college free where is he going to get the money to pay all of these college fees for each college?
To start, will making college free beneficial? Making college free may help people who struggle with money get a college education but, where will he get the money from? Some statistics state that to make college free then our taxes will have to go up in order to pay the college for the things that they need. So, to pay the college, our taxes will get raised, so we are technically paying for college, and it's not free. I personally feel that making college free isn't the best idea because not everyone goes to college so those who pay taxes are paying for people to go to college when they aren't going to work as hard. Also, the people who don't want to go to college may just go to college because it is free and they won't actually try in their studies. So, people paying higher taxes will basically be paying for students to just be at school and not even try.
There are some colleges that are free already and their success rate has decreased since they became free. People say that kids won't work as hard if they get things handed to them and if college is going to be free for kids then they won't try as hard in their studies and their grades will decrease and then the success rate of the college will decrease. I feel like students should have to work for things in order to get places in life. And paying for college will help them get ready for house payments and other payments that they will have to have the money for. And if college is free and just gets handed to people then they won't know what it's like in real life and having to pay for bills. Some people go to college just to party and now that college may be free then people will only party and stop working on their studies and their success will go down. For some people having to pay for college and all the feels will help them get their life together and be able to help them stay organized and smart with their money.

I believe that college should not be free. If college were to become free then i fell that students would not work as hard becuase they are just getting everything handed to them. Although there will always be students who have their parents pay for college, students should still have to pay and learn that responsibility.
I do not think that college should be free. People should have to work hard to go to college because if it were free then some people would just go to parties and take advantage of the free college. If college were to be free taxes would have to raise and I don't see how that would be a good thing for America. I think that giving everyone an opportunity like this a good thing, but I just don't see how it could work out without hurting our country.
I agree, if some people don't have to work hard for what they are getting then people will be taking advantage of what they're getting and just going to parties and not caring about their studies. and I agree it would help but i don't see how we can give people free college without hurting out economy.
Yes having college be free for some people would be amazing but what about the people who make more than the $125,000 a year. To me it wouldn't be far for those people who work just as hard as everyone else but don't get there college free. Also another big problem is who would be paying for it. In the end we would be it would come out in our taxes and other things.
I agree people who are working just as hard should get equal opportunities as other people no matter how much they make it should be equal for everyone. And yes in the end the money will be coming from us anyway because it has to be paid for somehow.
I think college should still cost something because members of the university have to make money somehow. However, I think that a college costing less would be helpful to families who can't always afford it. I think it would be beneficial if college was made free, but I don't think it would be practical.

I think that making college free could have some benefits like making college education not as much elitist as now, that's why in my opinion it should be free at least for people who have very low family's incomes. I think that since this would make it possible for more people to access high level education it would benefit society and economy.
