Berkshire Hathaway Annual Meeting

Warren Buffet is one of the richest people in the United States.  He is 90 years old and is still working as the CEO of Berkshire Hathaway.  Mr. Buffet and his business partner Charlie Munger answered questions at the annual meeting last weekend.  They talked about cyber currency and how it is not good for our economy.  They encouraged peole to invest in index funds, and not treat the stock market like a casino.

Warren Buffet lives in Omaha.  He is humble.  He has pledged to give 99% of his wealth away when he dies.  He is worth 103.8 billion dollars.

Would you give 99% of your wealth away to charity?

  • f I had a lot of money when I died, I would probably give it to my relatives. It's cool that he is giving away his money instead of burying it with him.  Everybody at some point has to retire. I don't think this guy wants to keep working until he dies. He needs to take a break for a couple of years and pass away peacefully. I for sure wouldn't want to work for that long.

  • I think I would give a lot of my money to my family and friends because I want them to be able to live soundly. I think that some should also go to charity because he is worth so much. I think if he wants to retire and live his life for a while he should, but if he wants to spend it doing what he loves then he should do that.

    • I feel like you are right.  I would give money to family and friends, too.

  • In my opinion, I would leave the majority of my money to my family members when I pass away. If I ever get to be as rich as Warren Buffet, I would leave some to charities. I think he is doing the right thing by giving some of his wealth away. However, I do think he should give some to his family so they do not face any financial struggles in the future. I think Warren Buffet is a great man for willingly giving his money away.

    • His family is probably well off without 99% of his money.

  • I think that if I was worth 103.8 billion dollars I would give about 50 percent of my money to charity because 50 million dollars is a very large amount of money. I would have retired when I got to 10 billion but he is still making a ton of money so why not keep working.

    • I agree 50 million is a lot of money and I would give it to charity even though I worked hard for it.

  • I think I would give plenty of my money to my family so they don't have to worry about financial struggles in the future.  I think that if he wants to keep going and his health is fine then he can keep going but if he wants to spend the last years of his life enjoying himself then thats fine too.

    • I would have stopped working a long time ago.
