Become one with nature while working for Microsoft

Microsoft is making tree houses for there employees to use as offices and general work space. In Redmond, Washington Microsoft has begun building the tree houses. The First set of tree houses they have built includes a lounge area and 2 offices. The tree houses are part of a new outdoor work space which spans 500 acres of wooded area, all of which is WiFi enabled. Microsoft is also adding the outdoors to there cafeteria's, the area will have rocking chairs and a canopy that will shine the Microsoft logo on the grass during a sunny day. The reason behind involving nature into technology is to "relive stress and stimulate change" says Microsoft's blog.

Questions

1. Would you rather work inside or outside(considering it would be a nice day)and why?

I would rather work outside, breathing in the fresh air and being surrounded by nature sounds much better than being in a steel building all day.

2. Do you think that nature relives stress and stimulates creativity?

I think that nature relives stress because its simple and it brings us back to the basics. Nature does stimulate creativity because nature can be abstract and show you things that you would have never thought of just by sitting in a blank room.

  • I definitely agree that nature relieves stress and stimulates creativity of those who are outside often. Being outside gives me a sense of peace and freedom which is a rare feeling for most high school students in this decade.

  • I would rather work inside just because I seem to be a magnet for insects to bite and steal my blood. I would prefer to work in a doctor's office and help people that way instead of outside. Plus I'd never be able to do most outside work.

  • I think that nature relieves stress and stimulates creativity because fresh air can really help you clear your head. Nature is also full of beauty and diversity, so it is a great stimulant of creativity.

  • I would prefer working (especially reading) outside when it is permitted by the weather because I like that exposure to fresh air and nature. When people say they need some fresh air, usually it really does help to clear your head.

  • It would be so refreshing to work outside in nature with the fresh air and birds chirping. It sucks being cramped up in a desk or an office with no fresh air and nothing to do but work and listen to phones ring and listening to people ramble about stupid things.

  • 1. Outside. I work more efficiently when surrounded by nature and enjoy trees more than anything.

    2. Yes. I believe when put in the most raw environments is when the human brain can unlock its true potential.

  • I would rather work outside than inside if I had the choice. Outside just has a certain atmosphere and depending on what the day is like, it can really be a tremendous experience to breath in the cold spring air. I have always liked going outside to do my homework because there is no echo, no distractions. It is just you outside enjoying the life that is brought out in the outdoors.

  • I would much rather work outside that inside because sunlight and fresh air help bring inspiration to people and make people happier. I do also belive hat nature relives stress and makes the creative juices flowing  creativity.

  • 1. I would rather work inside because of bugs and stuff like that getting on me and bothering me.

    2. It might because people are not just staring at walls all day. Instead they are staring at trees and the little creatures of the world.

  • I would want to work out side because it is nice to get that fresh air and it is peaceful. I do not like being inside for long periods of time. I think that it does because the fresh air just make you relax and relieve the stress. It does for me anyways.
