On Thursday, January 28, Mattel launched a new line of barbies. They each feature a range of body styles. "Girls and women don't come in one shape, and now, finally, Barbie won't either." The doll will now come in tall, petite and curvy varieties. The Barbie doll will now have four body types, seven skin tones, twenty-two eye colors, and twenty-four hairstyles. For now, only some of the dolls are available and only through Mattel's online store. On March 1, they will be in stores. The full line of barbies will roll out in stages throughout the year.
I think that it is great they are making many different type of barbies. This will hopefully make a difference for the children who play with them or see them at stores. I hope this will help children believe that everyone is beautiful no matter the size or color.

I think that they might have decided to make a larger range of barbies because barbies have been the same or close to the same and they needed a change. They probably wanted to get the message across that it is ok to be different and that you can have more of a variety.
I dont know how much of an impact this will make on children because maybe some kids just want a normal doll that has been around. Maybe children will like the new change and more available option for dolls.
I think that it's a good idea for them to make different sizes of Barbies. I know that growing up, I always looked at a Barbie and wished that I could look like that and of course I never did. I think that having one type of Barbie gives little girls self confidence issues because then they feel like they HAVE to look like that in order to be "cool" or socially accepted.
Because it opens up a whole new line of clientele. And it will make more girls think that they are all beautiful.
I think that the company decided to make different types so it will help people feel better about themselves. People are always judging themselves about what they look like, so maybe when they see this new doll, they will see that no matter what you look like you are beautiful. Kids love their toys and want to be just like them, so I think if they have a doll like them, that they will be OK with what they look like.
I think that they decided a larger range because there is many different types of girls. From petite to plus, And most girl at that age find their beauty from their toys. So If their barbie isn't just like them they begin to think they aren't beautiful. Because when a girl thinks of a barbie they think skinny and beautiful. Well that how they want to be seen. I think this will make a huge impact on children because they will all begin to believe that they are beautiful. Because every girl is.
When girls play with barbies they are thinking that girls should be skinny and perfect but that's not how reality really is and then girls go into depression and starve to be that shape and barbies are the start of it all... The impact on the bigger barbies they will realize that not everyone is skinny and perfect. That's how it should be!
