BABY SHARK DOO DOO DOO DOO DOO DOO, BABY SHARK! Have you heard this popular song once or twice? I am sure you have, and now many fans that sat through Washington National baseball games have too. As many of you may know, The Washington Nationals just won the World Series against The Houston Astros and are being widely celebrated. I for one, am very excited for them. During this very eventful game, the song, “Baby Shark” was played as Gerardo Parra prepared himself for his turn to bat. He had chosen this very upbeat tune to be his walk-on theme song, and people loved it. He even got fans up on their feet to do the dance moves, this included his teammates after he hit. Once he hit the ball, his teammates would make the shark movements with their fingers and have a great time. During an interview, he attested to picking “Baby Shark” to be his theme song as a tribute for his young daughter. She loves the song, and frequently plays it throughout their household. Because of this, Parra knew it was the perfect song for him. Ever since he began using the song, people will clap after he bats, whether he hits a homer or strikes out. The song makes him feel prepped and ready to hit a ball coming over the plate. Even though the song may be repetitive, people all over love it, and so does Gerardo Parra!
What do you think of the song “Baby Shark”?
Honestly, I get kind of annoyed by it. At first the song was cute and funny but it is just so repetitive. I think it is cool that he gets such a rise out of the fans and everybody dances to it.
Do you believe this kind of song, and the fans dancing would be distracting for Parra, or exciting?
I believe he hits pretty well. Although this may be true, I could see how it could get distracting. I think that it is great, and funny but Para may spend more time focusing on the song than getting ready to bat. So, he just needs to be careful and not let it get into his head.

I thought that it was funny and cute the first few times and was good for little kids, but after hearing it more then twice, I also got a little annoyed by it. I think that since he chose it, it should be fine for him, but he probably should be a little careful.
Yes Megan. I really do think it is a great children's song and gets them involved by doing actions. Maybe the fact that it is played while Parra is walking on the field and is most likely only played for a few seconds, makes it a little less annoying. I could not hear it for very long anymore, that's for sure. He must really like it if he chose it as his signature song, although I really wonder how he truly feels about it now. I still think that it is pretty cool that he chose this "annoying" song as a tribute for his daughter though.
I have heard the song so many times and I am annoyed by it. At first I thought it was kinda funny, but now it is awful. I think this song would be a good one to help get the croud motivated and into the game however, I dont see how it would help me to focus and play good.
I couldn't agree more Vanessa. At first the song was exciting and now it is just plain annoying. It was funny and cute at first and I could see why kids still love it, but I just don't. I also agree with you about not seeing how it helps Parra focus and play well. This was my exact thinking on the issue. I feel that the song is more of a distraction than a good ordeal. There are ups and downs to choosing this as his walk on song.
Sometimes I enjoy it's just occasionally I can get annoyed by it. I think it very creative of people making dances for it. I don't know maybe it would or not.
I do think that it was a creative song, but it still doesn't take away that the song is kind of annoying. I feel that the part that makes the song so hard to listen to sometimes, is just that it is so repetitive and says the same thing over and over again. However, I do think it is a great little kids song, and they enjoy it. Overall, I agree with you and think you are right.
I agree with you 100% Sam. I do think that this song is pretty annoying at this point. I wonder what he would say if we asked him if he thinks it has gotten too repetitive to him as well. I also see your point about us not knowing by the way he dances to it.
I think that since it has been used so much so frequently, people are starting to get annoyed of the song but I will still always sing it if it comes on.
I think that Parra loved the attention and excitement he got out of the song.
I agree with you Jenny, it has been so widely used that it gets annoying. Although you are right, if the song came on I would most likely sing a little bit of it as well. I think that Parra loves the song and excitement too, which is why I think there may be a chance that he could get a little distracted.
