After confessing to police he sexually assaulted and then smothered 4-year-old Anjelica Castillo, nicknamed "Baby Hope," Conrado Juarez now says the confession was forced. The man charged with sexually assaulting and smothering 4-year-old "Baby Hope" in 1991 denied in a jailhouse interview that he killed the girl but admitted he helped dispose of the body. Conrado told The New York Times that Anjelica Castillo died in a fall down the stairs. The 52-year-old kitchen worker was arrested Oct. 11 on a charge of second-degree murder. Police said he confessed to assaulting the child and smothering her with a pillow to stifle her screams.
But Juarez told the newspaper his confession was coerced.
"That's the mess I find myself in," he said in the Wednesday interview at the Rikers Island jail complex. He said he was resigned to spending the rest of his life in prison.
What do you guys think? Honestly I'm not sure what to believe, but this is really sad. Here is the rest of the story

Good job Shea!
I think that what he did was really sad. I'm glad that he came clean about it but it's too sad that it had to kill "Baby Hope." I don't even know that baby and it even makes me sad so I can't imagine how the family and friends feel. I'm not quite sure what runs through people's minds but some of it is just sick.
This is awful! I don't know how anyone could assault a child and then kill them afterwards! Like you said, I also am not sure what to believe, but I have a feeling that he actually committed the crime and is only saying that he was forced to say that he did it to "clear his name." Either way this whole story disgusts me.
So he was forced to plead guilty and then said that he wasn't guilty? I don't know weather to believe that he did do it or that he didn't do it. But if he didn't then that's messed up that he is getting in trouble. But then again he helped dispose of the body so he should get in trouble some what.
I am on the same boat. Why would he now say he didn't really do it, or why didn't he plead not guilty in the first place? I think that no matter what he should be getting some jail time.
Oh my gosh. This guy should go to jail for life. Now he finally confesses. How could someone live with that for over 20 years. Ew. Just ew.
He knew the crime he was admitting to, it's not like he was unaware. I know jail and cops can pressure someone into things like this sometimes. I think further investigation needs to be done.
Exactly! I think if we can get more understanding on what happened and what he said this would be much clearer.
That's extremely sick and it makes me upset. I don't know what to think here. That man should go to prison for the rest of his life.
I think that is terrible. He says he smothered her and assaulted her, but later he says he didn't? What sick person does that to a 4-year old girl. Someone that should stay in prison fro a long time that's for sure.
