A man charged with murder in the death of a Georgia's sheriff. 35 year old Jim Edward Lowery escaped custody while being transported in double locked handcuffs and ankle shackles broke out the patrol cars window by getting out of his shackles and knocking out the window. The handcuffs were later found in a roadway still intact. Over 100 GBI law enforcement officers were on the search for Jim Lowery. He was later spotted by air near the county jail. He was recaptured a short time later.
Why do you think he went close to the jail?
How do you think he got his handcuffs off while still intact?

You only did one story and didn't reply to any student comments.
I think maybe he was lost and didn't realize he was so close or maybe he was feeling guilty and wanted to turn himself in. I have no idea how he could get his handcuffs off, maybe he has small wrist?!
He might have thought that they wouldn't look there, since that's not where you would think he would be after escaping. Or maybe he thought he wouldn't get in as much trouble as he would have if he made it farther away. I'm not sure how he got out of handcuffs, but whoever is in charge needs to go back and make things more secure. That's ridiculous that a man this dangerous could escape so easily.
Because he maybe thought since he was lose that they would not look close. But also he probably did not have anywhere else to go and could not think of anywhere else to go so he went to the first place he saw. He knew somehow to get them off and did everything he could to get them off. People like inmate usually know many tricks of getting away from stuff so it was probably something he learned or knew earlier so he used his trick there.
