Atheletes protesting

Following the lead of team less Colin Kaepernick, just about every team now is protesting the racial inequality from all sports including baseball, football and basketball. Even a few highschool and college teams have taken a stand not just the pros. The Pittsburgh Steelers didn't even come out of the locker room in their week 3 game, as well many NFL owners leaving the press box to take a kneel with the players. During MLB games, some players remain in the dugout while other teammates stand allegiance to the flag. This has happened now in every week and will be interesting to see how long this continues.

Questions:

If you were a member of a team like this, would you kneel or protest?

Do you think it would be better to kneel or to speak out during an interview, is this the most effective way?

My opinion-

I would stand up during the national anthem but would agree with the other players.

I think it is better to kneel than to speak out because then everyone can join in and in an interview it is just one person.

  • Good job with the topic and summary but you need to reply more next time.

  • I honestly don't know what I would in this situation. I feel that kneeling is a more natural act of protesting than speaking out and kneeling during that anthem is probably one of the most effective ways to get their message across to everyone.

  • I don't know what I would do in this situation. I think that kneeling is a peaceful act of protest, but I don't think I would be able to take the mean comments afterward. I think that kneeling during the anthem is honestly the best way to get their message across. You'd have to admit they are doing pretty well at publicizing that things need to change, it's even caught the attention of our president. It's also mush easier for people to join in on this kind of protest.

  • I think that it has come to the point that they are just doing this all for attention and I think they should stand up for this country that has fought so hard. No I would not knee. I think they should do the interview and see how it goes from there and see if poeple agree with them or no instead of dragging this on longer than it needs to go

  • I think that the reason some of the other teams started to do this is because of the comments that President Trump made about this issue the last week. Nothing in the rules of the flag says that you must stand for the anthem. But, holding a flag horizontally like they do across the football field is actually considered to be disrespectful to the flag. I would stand for the anthem because I think the people that kneel are over reacting hardcore. Kneel, the only reason it is a big deal is because of the media. Do you think if media wasn't involved it would make this topic less important?

  • I think I would stand but still support the other players who are exercising their right to protest and kneel, I think the best way to protest would probably be to kneel just because more people see it.

  • I would definitely stand up during the National Anthem, no doubt about it. I would speak my part of the story and my opinion.

  • Depending on my teammates and how they felt about it. If I was in a pro team I would participate because its really the only way a pro athlete can protest peacefully. If I was on a high school team I would stand because there are other way they can participate and they are in a extracurricular activity. I think kneeling is a good peacfull protest, they are not protesting cops and the military, they are protesting police brutality.

    • I agree with you, if everyone protests violently then the police will have to respond violently to stop them and then nothing will ever get solved.

  • 1. I would not protest I would stand proudly and serve my country with grace.

2.Probably speak out so .people can hear your side of the story
