Here is a checklist to help students who are struggling with the assigned blog entry.
Written Assigned Blog Checklist:
• Include at least two images or one video
o They should relate to the topic
• Use paragraph form –
o separate each main idea into a paragraph
o start with topic sentences
o express thoughts in complete sentences
o include relevant, supporting details
o separate paragraphs
• Mechanics
o Punctuate the end of your sentences
o capitalize first word, I and names
o Don’t start sentences with “Because”, “But”, “And” or “So”
• Summarize
o the first part of the blog should highlight main ideas and supporting details
o do not copy or cut and paste or plagiarize!
• Reflect
o the second part of the blog should demonstrate what you learned and what your thoughts/opinions are on the topic
*There is no length limit but I do expect a good effort to do your topic justice.
*Use EasyBib to cite your sources at the bottom of you blog
-Six points will be deducted for no pictures/video.
-Three points will be deducted if you only have one picture.
-Five points will be deducted if you do not add your personal thoughts or opinions.
-Ten points will be deducted for not having linked sources.
-You will get a zero plus a detention if any part of your blog is plagiarized(plus other possible consequences for repeat offenses)
Podcast Assigned Blog Checklist:
- Has no more than four people. You can podcast with any student that is in any of my US History classes.
- If podcasting in a group, be sure that both of you participate equally if you want a similar grade.
- If done individually, podcast should be at least five minutes.
- If done in a group, podcast should be at least eight minutes.
- Podcast should have brief introduction but then focus on the topic of the week.
- Podcast should also include your personal thoughts and opinions about the topic.
- Podcast should be in a conversation format and not read from a paper or too rehearsed.
- Be sure to mention your two sources.
- Podcast should be uploaded to Podbean and then embedded onto your blog.
Video Slideshow Assigned Blog Checklist:
- Video is done individually.
- Video should focus on the topic of the week.
- Video should also include your personal thoughts and opinions about the topic.
- Video should include both information and pictures to tell the about the topic.
- Video should be around 3 minutes.
- There should be no grammatical errors in your videos.
- Pictures should be clear and not pixelated.
- Uses Movie Maker or other video editing software to create video slideshow.
- Sources are linked at the end of your video.
- Copyright laws are followed.
- Video is uploaded to Vimeo and embedded onto your blog.
- Use EasyBib to cite your sources at the end of the video.
