Poverty and Hunger are world wide issues that need to be settled fast. There are 6.8 billion people in this world; half of those people are living on less than $2.50 per day. There are 2.2 billion children in the world; 1 billion are living in poverty, and 22,000 die each day due to poverty. 870 million people are hungry in this world today. Two-thirds of the hungry live in only 7 countries (DRC, Bangladesh, China, India, Pakistan, Ethiopia, and Indonesia. Hopefully by 2015 those numbers will shrink. This issue should not be looked over at all.
Eradicating Extreme Poverty and Hunger is a difficult problem to overcome. The UN is trying to accomplish this in 3 different ways. The first way is to get ride of the people that live on less than 1.25 per day to earn a better living and be able to support their family. The second way is to make sure that everybody and decent fair work, even for children and women. And the last way is to halve the hungry people in this world. The goal is to do this before 2015.
IIn 2010 they decreased the people living on less than 1.25 a day by half, these numbers still need to be decreased. In 2011, unstable insecure jobs were 58% of all the jobs in developing region of the world. This is an improvement from 67% in 199. The third and final target for this goal is to halve the number of people who suffer from hunger, between 1990 and 2015. Fifteen percent of the world’s population is undernourished, this issue is more difficult that the others because there are way to many people in poverty. Even though there has been some progress, one in five kids are still hungry. 42 million people have been effected by this wide spread hunger.
