Around a dozen schools close

In the state of Colorado, over a dozen school district close their doors because of illness and highly contagious illness. The many ways the illness was spread was through direct contact and consuming contaminated food and water. Authorities say that it is a norovirus or more commonly known as a stomach bug. Schools say they will be closed until after Thanksgiving break. Over 22,000 students will not have education and around 3,000 employees will not have a job until after Thanksgiving.

  1. Would you like if the school closed down because of illness?

Personally, I would like it but we would most likely go into the summer longer because the school closed down.

  1. Do you think they should have stopped extra curricular classes?

Yes, because their could have been a chance to spread the illness to more people and continue the spread

  • I would love the school to close down because of disesases, only because I do not enjoy school myself. I do think it was a good idea to have school's close because kids were getting very sick and it is not healthy for families. I do not think extracurricular activities should be closed. If students are not able to go to practice, then that is thier choice whether they are sick or not.

  • I would like it if the school closed down for an illness because I don't want any of my friends, family, or I getting sick with something like that. I think that if the school closes for an illness break out then they should stop extra curricular activities like sports and band to ensure nobody else gets sick and it doesn't spread more.

    • I agree, decreasing the chance of the illness to spread and cause people to be sick

  • I’m a kid who doesn’t like school so I would happy to have a big break but if I sick and home that would not be too much fun so I would rather be healthy and at school. The extracurricular classes could have been a big reason for the spread so yes they should have stopped it.

  • I wouldn't like it if the school closed down due to illness because school would go much longer. However people can't come to school if they are very ill. It would cause more and more people to get sick. I do think they should've stopped extra curriculars. That is just another way for more illness to be spread.

  • I think that if enough of the student body got sick, it would be a good idea. I think that extra cirricular activities and classes could be one of the main causes. Students running around and sharing drink and get close to one another, it is the perfect spot for the illness to spread rapidly.

    • I agree with people coming together to cause illness to spread

  • I think that if a lot of people had the illness then it was the right decision to close the school until after thanksgiving because I don't want to get sick. Yes I think they should cancel all classes until after thanksgiving then maybe the diease is gone by then and hopeful most people are not sick anymore.

  • I would be okay wth it, however, I feel like a lot of people would be missing out on oppurtunities to continue learning. I don't think they should have stopped extra curricular activities. I think this because if there were still kids who weren't sick, I feel like they could still participate in extra curriculars.
