A popular debate topic in todays world is weather or not teachers should be allowed to open/concealed carry during school. In short my answer is yes, I believe this would be a good idea but with stipulations of course. I think that ex-milliary teachers and teachers who allready have a concealed carry permit should be allowed to bring their side arm if they would want to, I also think that if they do bring THEIR gun it should stay with THEM at all times and never leaving the holster unless absolutely needed.
I also believe there should be a limit on which teachers would be allowed to partake in this, for example they have to show proof of paper work for both the weapon and permit and they should be evaluated on how they react in high stress situations. The last things we want is more risk of someone shooting up a school because every teacher is carrying a gun. If this were put into place the teachers would be kept secreat so the students cannot get ahold of the weapons or target certain teachers and I think it should only be offered to ex-millitary because they would react appropately in a crisis situation and take out the threat in a timely manner because they have training.

Greats points, yes we shouldnt just let any teacher carry a gun but if theres a teacher who already carrys outside of school and has the proper training then why shouldnt we.
I think that schools need more protection. I think that if a teacher has a carriers permit it would not be a bad idea for teachers to have a gun on them as long as like you said it says in the holster all day long and only leaves it in emergency. Teachers should also have a choice like if they don't feel comfortable then don't but if they do it should be allowed.
I think that there is already a gun problem in the U.S. I believe teachers should not be able to carry guns in the classroom. It shouldn't even have to be a worry. Schools can have better, yet appropriate security. Having a gun in the classroom could be just as dangerous. Not every teacher is comfortable with that and if students were to find out and snap one day it would be a huge problem. I also don't think that in case of an emergency, a teacher would want to shoot a student, even if that is the students plan, in front of their students. The trauma goes both ways and far. I think we should be more worried about people carrying guns in general and focus on security in the schools. Teachers went to college to be teachers, not officers.
I think that schools need more protection whne it comes to school shootings. However, my question is would this affect learing in the classroom. How would it make you feel if you know that there is a gun in the room? Personally it wouldn't affect me because I have been around guns my whole life. I understand how to be safe while operating a weapon and while somenone is opperating opperating a weapon. How would it make students that haven't been around guns and don't understand saftey with guns?
That is something I didnt think of although its there for your protection, were in the classroom to learn and if someone is that worried about a gun that always stays in the right spot then I think thats there problem. If the teacher is playing with/unholstering the weapon and showing it off then I would say that the teacher should get his Conceal Carry permit taken / fired.
I agree with you, I do believe if there was an intruder, or some sort of violence occurring in the school, you would have a weapon to protecct yourseld and the children. I would really hope the teachers don't take advantage of the weapon just because of the dangers that go along with it. You want the kids to feel proetected not more scared because you don't know how to properly handle a gun, but in bad situations I think yes, they would be responsible enough.
I agree with you, I do believe that teachers should be allowed to carry weapons because it would keep kids and students safer if there was to be a school shooting. I also think that teachers would have to go through proper training to make sure they're completely safe in the situtation. I think that teachers would feel safer and would be fine if they were to allowed to conceal carry.
I agree completely, It would give both teachers and students a little peace of mind knowing that if something bad happens there protected. Even if one of the teachers were to "Snap" then there would be a couple others with the means to spot him fast and safely.
I agree, I think in today's society that we should allow teachers to be able to protect us. I think that some teachers would react appropriately, but I think that they would have to have some training. I also think that teachers should have to see a therapist before being able to carry a weapon because that could lead to some unwanted problems.
Thats a great idea for them to go see a therapist. I like that idea because a mental evaluation is another crucial step in insuring that the weapon holder is a safe person. Look can be very deciveing
