Unemployment is defined as people over 18 seeking work. In the time you are seeking for a job you receive a small check to get you by until you find a job. The average unemployed person gets 50K a year. Which means that the average unemployed person is paid more than the average employed person. So people are risking their lives, working 40 hours a week, and working in 100 degree temperature while people are getting paid to sit at home doing nothing.
When the first stimalte check came out in April for 2020 the unemployment rates skyrocketed to 14.7% to the highest they have ever been. Restaurants claim that people will apply but never show up. Some even work for a day but then quit.They believe it happens because of the unemployment benefits.
I believe an unemployment check should be just enough to get you by until you find a job. Not a check anyone should be able live live on for a long period of time. I think that they should send a stimalte check to the people that are working and maybe that will make the unemployed get a job.

Great topic choice Brady! It is an issue I notice all the time. You did a good jon replying to students but be sure to comment on three different days instead of two. The issue I see is that your summary is just too brief to explain such a complicated topic. There is so much more you could have expanded on.
I think the unemployed should not get as much money because there would be no point to working if you make more money not working then working. I think the unemployed should get one time payment of like 4,000$ and that will last them until they get a job but no more money after that. If they can't find a job by the time runs out they should apply to get more money but then pay it back after they get a job kinda like a loan.
If i was an unemployed person and get paid too much, like now, i would stay quiet too so that is why unemployment payment is still this high, because some people are taking advantage of it, and i think that number will increase.
I belive that unemployed people are paid way too much. I think that unemployed people should get less then $20,000 a year, so that they go out and get a job. I think that people are lazy and don't want to do manual labor or even sit at a desk to make money, but would rather sit at home and not do anything and get paid for it.
I agree that they are overpaid and that they should only get the money that can get them by until they find a job. But they all don't not do anything some of them try and find jobs. I feel that if the wage is lower maybe the people would try and find a job faster but sometimes it's not that easy to find a job. Unemployment rates are getting a bit high but it also includes more than just the payment that people get. (what happened with the pandemic and just not having enough education for some jobs)
I feel like unemployed people are getting paid, it makes since if you get a small check to help you at hard times, but if you make the check to big then theres no point in working and people will just want to not try and find a job. The main reason that unemployment is so high is because the checks are paying to much. They see how much they get paid for NOT worknig.
I think unemployed people who aren't mentally or physically challenged should get nothing from the government when unemployed. That's insane that the average unemployed person makes 50,000 a year, which is way more than the average income of an employed American which is 31,000. I believe if your unemployed you better find work or go broke.
I think that unemployed people are way overpaid. Usually people only make about $33k a year. That's almost a $20,000 difference. We should lower it to about $30,000 because then the people who are actually working are the ones making more money.
Yeah because if you're unemployed you obviously do nothing so it's just an infinte money glitch in real life. People shouldn't feed of other peoples work for nothing. That's why people should just go get a job because they are all lazy or disabled if you're in the unemployment list.
Yes, I think that unemployed people should not be payed more then some employed people. We can not give unemployed people that much money because that causes people not have motivation to make their own money. Our country is built off of people working for their own money.
