As most people know, energy drinks are becoming more and more popular. Not only are teens drinking them but a majority of adults are too. Some side effects include high blood pressure, hyperactivity, etc.
Researchers did a questionnaire at two emergency departments from June 2011 - June 2013. They surveyed people from ages 12 to 18. Out of the 612 people that responded, 33% said they drank energy drinks frequently. Among those teens, 76% said they had a headache in the last six months, 47% said they experienced anger and 22% stated they had difficulty breathing. While they can’t prove that’s from the energy drinks. They stated that the people who consumed the energy drinks were more likely to report symptoms then those who didn’t. At the same time, people who consumed them were more likely to say the drinks helped them do better in school or in sports. They also said the drinks helped them focus and stay up all night.
I drink energy drinks sometimes but very rarely. I don’t drink them frequently and I don’t seem to have any symptoms that others reported. But, I do feel more energized and focused when I drink energy drinks
Do you think energy drinks are becoming an issue?
Do you drink energy drinks?
If so, do you see any symptoms?

I think energy drinks could become an issue in the near future. There are many negative side effects of repeated use, like you said, which include difficulty breathing and headaches. If you drink them often, your body becomes accustomed to it's effects, and many of the potential postives disappear. You no longer get a rush of energy or increased focus because you are so used to them.
I think a lot of people don't use energy drinks correctly. When you have an energy drink just have one not three or four. There's nothing wrong with have one every so often but don't binge drink them. Personally, I don't drink them being I know what they can do to your body.
Yes, I agree that it’s an issue if you’re drinking more than one at a time. Some just want to drink 3 or 4 at a time and that’s the problem.
I think energy drinks can be harmful if you aren't hydrated or if you have too many. I had to cut back on energy drinks this year because I was very dehydrated, had high blood pressure, and had shortness of breath. This isn't fully because I was drinking too many energy drinks, but I was already dehydrated to begin with and caffeinated drinks dehydrate a person more.
I think energy drinks are a problem, because they aren't good for your heart/blood pressure and can result in a caffeine addiction. I do drink energy drinks, and probably more than I should. Having an addiciton to caffeine and energy drinks is just a black hole for your money.
I agree because they are getting more and more people addicted to them everyday.
Drinking too many energy drinks can become a problem but having one every once in a while isn't a bad thing. Sometimes I will have one when i'm hanging out with friends or something but I don't drink 4 or 5 every day. Some people also react to energy drinks worse than others. I have never experienced symptoms from them but I know some people who have. Some energy drinks are stronger than others also which could lead to those symptoms.
I think drinking several in one day frequently is when it becomes a problem. Drinking them maybe once a week is ok. Yes i drink energy drinks. I usually drink one on the weekend when i'm with friends. I never get symptoms from the energy drinks. I also think some energy drinks are worse then others.
Yes I agree. I think drinking them once in a while doesn’t impact you negatively.
