A Ramsey County, Minnesota, sheriff's car was broken into and a loaded AR-15 rifle was taken. The sheriff car was an unmarked car. There isn't much talk about what had happened but it seems that the person whole stole the rifle knew exactly what to do. How the person got into the car was a odd way. They took the handle off the door somehow. They pried the rifle from a secured mount inside the vehicle. A person who sells this type of gun says that it can range up to $3,000 depending on the parts in the gun.
This is the type of gun that was stolen from the vehicle.
1. How do you think the guy managed to not get caught?
2. Where do you think the person who was driving that car was during this event?
My opinion
1. I think that he got away with it because there wasn't anyone watching the vehicle.
2. I have no clue where the person in charge of the vehicle was. Maybe he went to the bathroom or inside a store to get something.

Great job overall! Two days late-10
I find it weird that the police man wasn't there and there wasn't cameras in the car like there usually is. That would've helped a lot. I know that this counts as violation and robbery, but it is kinda the policeman's fault for leaving an unmarked car un-watched with that nice of a gun in it.
We don't know if there were camera's in the car because they aren't releasing much information. If there were camera's then that would help greatly in finding who did it.
I think that the guy did it quickly and quietly I think it helped because the car wasn't marked making it not as suspicious for him to be there. He was probably eating doughnuts and drinking coffee on break.
That is a good point! Maybe the sheriff was on break and that the car being unmarked made it easy for the guy to get away with it.
I think the guy must have drove away quickly and it helped that the police car was unmarked so no one knew it was a police car. I think the Sheriff was either off doing inspections of other places or eating doughnuts at the local doughnut shop.
Maybe since it was an unmarked vehicle no one knew that it was a sheriffs vehicle.
It might have happened very quickly when no witnesses were around to see that person breaking in to that car and stealing that gun. It might have been at night or in an alley somewhere offside. The owner of the car might have left it somewhere without the suspicion of his gun getting stolen out of his car. He maybe was somewhere inside or asleep, something like that.
I never thought about it happening at night! That was a very good point. They never mentioned when it happened so it very well could of happened in the night time!
Obviously this crime took place in a discreet location so that no one saw the man do the crime. The guy that owned the car clearly wasn't nearby. He might have been running an errand or was oblivious to the car being broke into.
