Apes in Texas?

In a small town south of Houston called Santa Fe, police have been receiving some very strange reports. These reports all claim that an Ape has been spotted in a small vegetated spot south of town. Some citizens even claiming to be chased or attacked by the large primate, One women from Santa Fe stated, “Just had a monkey try to attack me, while checking my mail, I’ve spent the last 20 minutes in my car.” Some of the eyewitnesses have claimed the ape is a chimpanzee, which are only native to cental Africa. The Santa Fe police have released a drone to scan the tree tops for the primate. No one quite knows where the ape is from, one thought is that it escaped a zoo. There was even a group of primate catchers called in, so they could help find this ape. Currently residents of Santa Fe are warned to stay away from the primate team and out of harms way.

1. How would you react to becoming face to face with a wild primate?

My Answer, I would probably slowly creep away, like nothing ever happend.

2. Where do you think the Ape came from and Why?

My Answer, I believe the Ape came from a circus, Because chimpanzees are not usually an aggressive species, so I belive the Ape is new to all this and is stressed out.

  • Good summary overall! Be sure to reply more frequently to student comments, especially on Thursday evening.

  • I would probably be somewhat scared and alarmed and try to leave as quickly as possible without aggravating it but then go home and tell my friends and family about it. I think that the ape could be from a zoo or maybe it escaped from animal smugglers.

  • If I was face to face with a wild primate, I would probably freeze due to shock, or just start running because I wouldn't be able to stay calm. I believe the ape came from a zoo, or like you said, a circus because it wouldn't be too hard for an ape to escape from these type of things.

  • I wouldn't know how I would react if this happened to me. I think i would be panic and try to get away from it before I get hurt or something worse happens. I think that it escaped from a zoo or someone let it out, so then it just didn't know what to do and it panicked and left.

  • I would probably call in that i found it and try to follow it so it can be captured. I think that it could have been smuggled because a lot of animals are being smuggled into the country.

  • 1. - I'd be scared, but also confused why their were apes in Texas where they aren't commonly found. But otherwise I'd just try to get out of that situation, and hope that no property damage would occur or "human damage" I guess you could say would happen.

    2. - I think it either was apart of a circus, or maybe a local zoo and somehow the ape escaped. Either way, someone wasn't paying attention and their should be some sort of consequence for this kind of disruption.

  • I would probably be pretty scared and then try to escape safely and go on with my life. I do not know where it would have came from it could have came from anywhere it is just that person was in the right place at the wrong time.

  • I would probably stand there and stare at it for awhile then walk away slowly. If I had to guess, I would probably say it had escaped from the zoo becuase if the zoo had multiple chimpanzees they most likely wouldn't notice right away if one escaped.

  • If I spotted a monkey just out in the open, I'd try not to prevoke it. I'd give it it's space and call animal control or the zoo or something. The ape most likely came from a nearby zoo. I can't really think of any other explaination other than it got out of it's cage and ran.

  • If I came face to face with a wild primate, I would be very concerned. Apes are MEAN and very very dangerous. It more than likely came from a zoo, but saying that, you would think that the zoo would have informed police of the missing animal considering how dangerous it could be.
