On February 6, 2020, Antarctica's temperature hit an all-time record high at 65 degrees F. A remote station on the continent's northern tip sent the feedback to Argentine scientists. This beat the previous record of 63.5 degrees F set in March 2015 at the same location. Before the March record, the last temperature high was in 1961. The temperature felt this February is equivalent to San Diego, California's temperature on the same day.
The higher temperatures are caused by heat trapping gases emitted by humans. If the temperatures keep up, the melting ice in Antarctica can cause global catastrophes such as flooding in areas by the seashore. Antarctica is one of the fastest warming areas on Earth, making threat of disaster much larger. Studies show that the Antarcitca's melting glaciers can cause the world's sea level to increase by around 200 feet, according to the World Meteorogical Organization (WMO).
1. How much do you think you'll be affected by possible rising sea levels? Now and in your future?
I mean, living in Iowa won't cause any problems that I can see at the moment, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't worry about other people who are going to be potentially impacted by the melting ice. As for my future, I have no clue where I want to live, but not anywhere near the ocean.
2. Do you think that humanity should act immediately to stop the melting ice, or is the threat not so immediate? Or do you think that this isn't a big deal at all and climate change isn't real?
I think the better that this problem is solved, the better the planet will be. We want to prevent as many problems from happening as possible, plus preserve the wildlife that is living in the ice caps. This is something that the world needs to unite to accomplish before we hit a point of no return.

Great job Sam!
I Dont think that it will really cause any promblems for me becasue i live in iowa and there is not ocean any where near us. i Dont htink its somthing we need to get out of the way to fix and even if we did try to fix it how or what could they do not very much
I think that we should get to the issue as soon as posible because the future is starting to look gloomy with climate change and everything. However, our government is doing nothing about it and is starting to get me scared of the future.
I don't think that rising sea levels will affect any Iowans because we're pretty far away from the oceans surrounding our border. However, it could be an issue for people that live right by the ocean. I think that climate change is real, it's just not as big of a deal as everyone makes it. I think that it's natural for the Earth's temperature's to change and it has happened in history and will continue to. I think that there could be some issues from it, but it's okay because it's natural and will all work out in the end.
I think humans should be more respectful and take this more seriously. I don't plan on living anywhere else far from Iowa, because I have family here. However, my family takes us to the beach every so often. I believe this could affect our vacations and where we go.
Since Iowa is located in the middle of the country and far away from any oceans, I do not think I'll be directly affected by the possible rising sea levels. However, I could be indirectly affected as many people may choose to migrate to safer areas such as the midwest, causing a rise in the population here. For those who reside near the ocean shore, I worry and feel bad for them because they will be directly affected and will probably have to move. I think that we should put some laws in place to stop climate change from getting worse. We are almost at the point of no return, and I think that we definitely need to do something before it's too late.
For Iowa we wouldn't be affected for both now and the future, there is no way that the sea level would come to Iowa, but other states near the coast probably.
I think they should fix it immediately cause you never want a place to be flooded just because of the ice melting. Also some places near the sea don't want to get flooded because of the high population of people that live in those types of areas.
I think that the sea levels rising will not affect me beacuase I do not live by the ocean at all, but with the levels rising that could cause some people that live around the ocean to move away from it and the population could increase near me. I think the temperatures rising will also rise around us. I think that we should act fast to stop it or at least slow it down.
I think I'll be affected by rising sea levels. There'll be less places to live and grow food, so I think the cost of living might go up. If sea levels increase rapidly, lots of people will die because cities are pretty densely populated next to the ocean.
I think we should act now. There's no day like the present, even if it isn't considered "that bad" right now. By the time disaster, it'll be too late to go back. You can't refreeze glacier water on the scale it was before after it melts. People do this weird thing where they only start caring about the environment when it starts affecting them.
I'll be affected by the rising sea levels not by flooding but just by climate change overall, considering that the Earth is definitely getting warmer, Winters may lack snow, summers could be searing hot, etc. I think humanity needs to get on the renewable energy train, using coal and other fossil fuels which are PROVEN to destroy air quality is a horrible idea and should be stopped as soon as possible.
