Animal testing helps out humans in many ways, such as helping researchers come up with treatments, or improving the safety of drugs by testing them first. While there is positives, there are always negatives. This including it being very expensive, animals not having the same genetics as humans, and animals being locked in captivity. They are working on an alternative, that being testing the treatments on human cells instead of animals. This means that it's helpful and preventable, but is it necessarily worth it?

Animal tests on animals do not always produce results that are accurate. One example of this being the fact that 94% of drugs that pass animal trials fail human trials. This means that while it helps create drugs, it doesn't always work out in the end. This means that even though we make drugs and have a way to test them before mass production, they can end horribly. Even with the fact that animals are held captive, there are still laws in place for them so they aren't mistreated. They are locked up, but the researchers want to treat them as humanely as possible, even though that includes testing on them whenever they feel the need to.

In my opinion, I think that animal testing should be banned, especially because there are alternatives being put in place so animals don't have to suffer so much. I think that it's horrible to torture the animals, even though it helps human life. The animals were free and happy and then we showed up and locked them in cages and started testing drugs on them and killing them. Even though they are making it more humane, it's still very, very inhumane.

What do you think about animal testing?

Should it be banned?

Is it worth looking into alternatives?

  •  I think that some animal testing is okay becuase it can lead to find cures for us humans. However I dont think animal testing is really anything great, but if you dont test products on animals who do you test the products on. I think coming up with something else so we arent harming animals would be a better alternative.

    • I agree. It is okay in some ways but it isn't anything amazing that helps us thats worth mistreating the animals.

  • I think animal testing is good for testing things that don't hurt the animal. However, I don't think it's good when it comes to testing the harsh stuff like chemicals. An alternative would be a good idea but that probably won't happen because who would they use instead of animals.

    • I agree, I don't think its good either especially when we test out more harsh things.

  • I think that some animal testing is good because it can find cures that work for humans. I don't think it should be banned because medical research would dramatically slow down.  I do think that some animal testing is inhumane, but I think that it is the only option for medical research.

  •  I think animal testing is not great but it is not something I am going to strongly disagree with. Don't test products on animals, but then who do you test the products on? I hope not humans because that would be worse. I think an alternative would be a good idea, but that also depends on the alternatives.

  • I think that animal testing should not be banned because they are crucial in helping figure out other problems with humans and animals. I understand that just because they are animals they have rights. But without proper animal testing these animals may not have a cure for deadly diseases & genetic issues. I think that animal testing is something that is manditory for the safety of others.

    • I disagree, as there is a low chance it cures anything at all. Animals are much different from humans and I believe that in the long run it will not be worth it.

  • I think that morally animal testing is bad. Animal testing has helped scientists and doctors develope cures for some diseases. I don't think it should be banned but instead heavily regulated. I think that it would be worth looking into alternatives.

    • I honestly agree. I feel that animal testing is very bad but if its regulated insanely precisely it would be ok.
