On september 14 at the Iowa vs Iowa State game Carson King was seen holding a sign reading 'Busch Light Supply Needs Replenished.'  Also on the sign was a venmo account. Carson then started getting hudreds of thousands of dollars and would eventually get close to 2 million dollars.  Then a reporter from the Des Moines Register found 2 racist tweets from when king was a sophmore in highschool. He did go on a news conference and apologized for the tweets but right after Anheuser Busch cut all ties with him but said they would still match the final amount.  In the wake of all this contraversy, some have gone on to boycott all Anheuser Busch products. Something that many people are pointing out is that the reporter had worse tweets as well

Extra facts I used

  1. what would you do if you were in the Anheuser Busch CEO's position at the time of this all happening?

I would forgive him because it was 2 deleted tweets from 8 years ago and he was helping to raise money for children.

  1. what would you do if a mean or offensive tweet resurfaced from your pass and affected your reputation?

I would apologize and then move on with my life.

  • This needed to be postd by Tuesday to get credit. I will give you some points as you got it done.

  • I would say to the public "This was posted when he was a sophmore and he isn't the sophomore anymore. He has become a great man and is raising money for charity are we really going to stop giving to charity at 2 million. We have changed a good man into the most a bad person that isn't right. Forgive people it's not that hard the people you'll helping by donating will be thankful don't think about the person doing it for charity if that makes it better. Do it for the people on the other end of where the charity money is going."

I mean since I don't have anything besides text and snapchat and I rarely go on snapchat I don't have to worry. If I was I would probably ask why this was offensive in the first place and why they had to make something good become bad. Is this the society we live in today!

    • the scocioty we live in today is focused around not offendinganyone at any cost.   life is offensive, you have just got to deal with it.

  • I would forgive Carson because it was childish of him. It also took place 8 years ago, and it might have been racist, but it was a long time ago and Carson was just a kid, I doubt he even knew any better. If a mean or offensive tweet were to come up from my past, I would just apologize and move on with my life. I wouldn't even let it bother me becase I would have done it when I was young and didn't know better.

  • Cancel culture is stupid. Companies and people need to stop destroying careers just because of a racist tweet that happened in high school. People change and grow over time and can become better people. Just because someone was not a good person in high school doesn't mean that person's still a bad person. In this case, people are actually supporting him. However, normally something like this would result in hate.

    • yea cancel culture is very dumb.  it aims to take down anyone who does not agree with you.

  • If I were in his position I would forgive him because it was a mistake he made in his highschool career, which was a long time ago. If a offensive tweet surfaced from my past I would first delete it, apologize to everyone and then move on with my life.

  • I would just forget about the tweets because almost everyone nowadays has done something bad on social media when they were younger, they should give the man his busch. I agree I would apologize and try to move on especially because it was something I did when I was young.

  • I wouldn't stop sponsering Carson King because two racist jokes from highschool isn't a big deal, especially years on years later. Carson King has made mistakes like all of us, and has become a better person from them.  Secondly, I would be upset if one little mistake I made in the past resurfaced and was a deciding factor in an important part of my life. I would do what Carson King did and apologize, and say that I have changed and become a better person.

  • I would definitely forgive him because he was obviously young and not thinking at the time and they were deleted a long time ago. He is obviously a changed person since he is donating all the money instead of keeping it for himself. I would apologize and ask for forgiveness.
