An Iowan is now the world’s oldest person.

The woman who had been listed as the oldest person in the world died Tuesday in Georgia. That leaves Dina Manfredini of Johnston as the most senior person on the planet, according to the Gerontology Research Group.

Manfredini is 115 years and 244 days old.

Born in Italy in 1897, Manfredini moved to the United States in 1920. She married and had four children.

It sounds like she would be interesting to interesting to interview, since she's been alive in the last three centuries. She probably knows a lot about Prohibition and the Model T.

Wow that's incredible! It's sad that the other person died but crazy how old they are! Back in the 1800's I know people would only live to be 50 or 60 but now because of medical reseach and hospitals with heathly and clean supplies people can live to be in their 90's.

115 is younger than I would have thought. It's crazy that she was born in the 1800's, I wonder how they determined that she was the oldest. maybe the real oldest person just doesn't want to be bothered

Thats crazy! i never would have known that! I dont know how i didnt know this sooner, but when ever i think of the oldest person alive i think of someone in isolation in like India. not our own back yard!

She is a very lucky person to live that long and experience so much change in the world. She would be a very interesting person to talk to.

Wow, she is old and shes been alive in 3 different centuries. I bet she would have some pretty  interesting stories to tell.

I think that it is extremely amazing and I would have loved to have a chance to talk to her. In another story I read about her, when she was asked what her secrets to a long life were she replied "not eating junk food and minding my own business"
