An Abusing Veterinarian

How would you feel if you took your pet to the vet and they came back seeming even more damaged than before. During September, in Beaverton, Oregon, Andres Figueroa brought his dachshund puppy to the vet for a checkup. Bleu, the puppy had sustained a leg injury during the summer. He had the checkup at a clinic right outside of Portland, Oregon. When Andres cam back later that day the veterinarian had said, that Bleu tried to nip at him. Dr. Koller is the veterinarian and later did they find out what he did. Dr. Koller had grabbed the puppy by his mouth and torso so violently that the poor puppy defecated on the table. The vet then lifted him by the mouth until he was unconscious. Mr. Figueroa had taken Bleu and left; the puppy had curled up in his lap breathing shallowly. Later, the next day, Bleu had to be put down due to fluid filling his lungs.

But this wasn’t just the only case that has been reported. There have many complaints against, Dr. Koller. Mr. Koller had practiced medicine in California and Oregon off and on for 30 years. He has faced a criminal charge of animal cruelty three years after he received his license. Other customers had interviews admitting that they were concerned. Dr. Koller, had been seen beating a German Shepherd, then later they found the dog dead. There has been a case where he has frightened a puppy so bad that he urinated on the exam table. There had many more cases of animal abuse and Mr. Koller being extremely rude in general.  Daniel Koller, who is 72, is facing two felony counts, first-degree aggravated animal abuse and first-degree animal abuse. Dr. Koller had to attend a court hearing in Hillsboro, Oregon last month and was then soon arrested after that.

  • Should he have had a more severe punishment after his first abuse encounter?

I think he should have, he had caused a animal to die after coming in for a checkup. He should have had some jail time before he went back to work.

  • Do you think he should have had his license taken away and not have gotten it back?

Yes, if he caused an animal to die and he was scaring them because they were whining. He should have had it taken away after the first cause of death.

  • Great summary! Be sure to reply back a few more times.

  • Yes he should have especially if he had been seen doing this multiple times and had caused the deaths of many animals that type of behavior should not be accepted especially by someone who is a vet whos job is to take care of animals. Yes I think he should not get his license since he did the opposite of his job instead of taking care of animals he killed several.

  • I think that there should have been a more severe punishment than just his license being taken becuase what he did caused an animal to die and he took peoples money and hurt their animals. I think that if he got his license taken in the fisrt place that they should not have given it back

  • Well first of all, screw that guy. Second of all, how in the actual hell did he keep his lisence after ONE animal abuse report? His job is literally to help animals. And if he did lose his license how did he get it back? None of this makes sense! But after having one animal abuse charge I think if you get another you should get a more severe sentence for every charge pressed.

  • Well it should have been solved before Bleu had died because there were so many other cases. I don't know how long he will be in jail but hopefully for a long time because people literally paid him to abuse their pets without them even knowing until they see their dog. And he should definetly had his liscence taken away for all of that abuse that he has done to people's pets.

  • In my opinion, animal abuse is not okay and I think that he should have more charges because hurting animals and abusing them to the point where they die is something that he should have to pay for and maybe even serve time for it. I also think that he should get his license taken away, and he shoul not be allowed to get it back.

  • He should never be able to work with animals again and have a severe punishment for an act like this. People should not be scared to take their pets to a vet and have them be even more scared when they come home. I will never understand why people think they can do stuff like this and get away with it.

  • I feel like after all these incidents, his license should be revoked permanently. He obviously only has this job to be able to torture animals without anyone else knowing. His name is so trashed he can't get a job in anything else now, though. Most places don't want registered felons working for them, at least to my knowledge.

I feel his license should have been revoked at the first incident for animals dying of traumatic injuries after his care when they weren't injured as badly before.

  • yes, I think he shouldn't be around animals if he has a record of it. I think he got what he deserved under the law. He should have been immediately stripped of his license and not been given it back and he should never be able to be around animals until something is proven wrong.

    • Laura, I agree with you. He should have immediatley had his licencse taken away and should have been in jail for awhile. He should have never been around animals again.
