Amish Country Protest

Ten Amish men from Kentucky are being jailed for refusing to put the orange reflectors on their buggies. They refused to pay their fines.   The men say that it is against their religion to have triangle reflectors on their buggies.  They got fines and 10 days in jail. There have been other court cases like this in different states. The court sided with the Amish on a majority of cases.

This is the one of the few things they are required to have by law and its for THEIR protection so others can see them.

I think they should want to be protected so cars know to slow down.

  • They should probably just put the reflectors on. Its not just for their safety its for the safety of drivers on the road too.

  • It's hard decide where to draw the line between freedom of religion and the law. If it was in someones religion to steal or murder, that's one thing, But since it's for their protection I think they should be able to get by without it

  • They don't want to change their ways from what their parents did and if it's against their religion I don't know how it can be against the law because of freedom of religion. I still think they should have to put the stickers on their buggies because they could kill someone besides just themselves.
