Amazon Sues Over Fake Reviews

Summary:

Amazon sues over 1,000 users for posting fake reviews on their products. Users are making fake accounts and putting good reviews on their own products to make them look better. This causes the consumers to think that the product being offered is of higher quality than it may really be. The investigation has been going on for months and Amazon says they will continue into investigating which users are using this method of making the products look good. They want other users to get reliable reviews to continue trusting their website.

My Thoughts:

I think it's great that Amazon is doing something about these fake reviews. I know on more than one occasion, that I personally purchased something on Amazon that had good reviews but ended up having poor quality. Hopefully this will cause others to quit putting fake reviews on their products.

Questions:

Do you think that Amazon should be doing anything else to improve their website?

Do you think that the other users of Amazon will cease to putting fake reviews on their products?

I don't use Amazon, but I think that it's fine and doesn't need to improve at all. I think some will still try to find ways in order to put fake reviews on their products.

  There will always be ways to get around regulations causing there to always be fake reviews on their website.

  I doubt it'll stop it completely either, but hopefully it will cause them to be less making the reviews over products more reliable.

I think Amazon is a very good, easy to navigate website, the fake reviews is the only problem I've noticed with the website. I think the investigation will stop some users from putting fake reviews, but not all.

  I agree, I use Amazon all the time to purchase different things, unreliable reviews are probably my only problem as well.

  The problem with that is the owner can purchase something from himself and then turn around and put it back on, but maybe Amazon could come up with something off of that idea.

I think that the people putting fake reviews will stop because of the different law suits.
