A man had always wanted to be Jonas in The Giver but as he grew older he started to look more like the actual Giver. So even though his dream was to be in that movie as Jonas he will still get to live his dream out just in a different way than planned. Jeff Bridges will now be playing a role in that movie but not the role of Jonas he will be playing the role of The Giver.

I think that it means your dream didn't come true or it was not the right path for you. Sometimes that happens and you find a better path. But he still got to do something very good and close to what his original dream was.

I think that it means it is still a dream, but not the exact dream you wanted it to be. You still get to do something that you have always dreamed doing but in a different form.
I think that it means that the persons true dream isn't coming true. I think everyone would be disappointed if a dream in their lifetime doesn't come true. But, life isn't perfect and things don't always go your way. If a similar event, close to your dream, does come true, you can't be mad. You are still going to have lots of success in fulfilling your dream. So, even though you aren't living the life of your true dream, you are still living living an enjoyable life.
I think it means that the dream you wanted to come true did not, but in a different way it did come true. Maybe the dream you wanted to come true really wasn't the way you wanted it to come true.
I think it means it was meant to be but just not in the way you originally thought. Like if you really wanted a dog and then you got one just not the one you wanted, but as time went on you started to see that it was the dog for you and was way better then the one you wanted earlier. You just can't be angry that things didn't go your way, you have to watch and wait to see if things do go your way just not in the way you thought you wanted it to go.
We all have dreams, but often times, our paths in life do not take us to where those dreams are attained. Whether our life goal is to marry our favorite celebrity or win an Olympic gold or anything in between, many of those goals aren't realistic for the person making them and the average human being is just not going to reach those big dreams, plain and simple. That's why I feel like if Jeff Bridges came so close to his dream that he was just playing another main character in the same movie, he should consider himself lucky and appreciate it because all it means is that he took a different path in life, and made different decisions and grew differently, but it still took him to nearly the same place he wanted.

I think it means that their original dream isn't what was supposed to happen for that person. I believe in the saying "Everything happens for a reason" and I believe that if your dream comes true in a different way, that's the way God wanted it to be.
