In big cities such as New York, NY, and Austin, TX, transportation around the city is huge! Scooters have been on the rise starting in the year 2016. Although they have been very helpful with reducing the amount of car and truck traffic in the city, they have caused some problems. Many are worried because injuries on the scooters have increased as they are being more frequently used. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Preventation are studying the scooters to better understand the health and safety risks that come along with using scooters. The CDC will use the information they gather to help reduce the number of non-fatal accidents that happen while riding scooters. At the University of Texas in Austin, most of the injuries received by students are bruises, cuts, head injuries, sprained ankles, and fractures. No injuries have been too serious but cutting back on the little things will help keep the cities safer. Along with the rise of safety on scooters, the rise of scooters being used has increased. Even Uber has bought some Jump scooters to leave in cities to make more money.

How would you handle getting injured on a scooter?
I would most likely quit riding scooters until I heal, and when I eventually rode again I would be safer.
What do you think the CDC could do to make riding scooters safer?
I think that if the cities has designated spots for scooter drivers to drive and park, they could stay off the streets and sidewalks. The safety of drivers and pedestraitions would be much better.

Good topic and well done overall! Be sure to go in earlier in the week so you can hit the three different days for commenting requirement. All of your replies were done on the 9th.
Well I rode scooters when I was a kid. So I would thind I would be ok if the injury was not as serious. I think that big cities like New York should add a bike lane but for scooters. I think it would be safer to make these changes so people don't get hurt.
I think most people rode scooters as children, but most of the time they weren't electric like the ones most cities are using now. Children getting injured from a pedal scooter is different than an electrical scooter, but they both have the same idea. As kids we wore helmets and knee pads when we were scared to get hurt, and I think many adults could still do that to prevent injuries. Along with wearing protective guards, I think an extra lane for the scooters would be very nice, especially if the use of them continues to climb like it has been.
I think they should have special space on the road for scooters, if too many people are getting injured while riding them on the street. I feel like if we did that for the drivers and if the scooter drivers followed the paths, their would be less error for accidents.
I think the best idea to insure that both pedestrians and scooter drivers are safest is that the cities have a special lane or space to drive scooters. I agree with you when you say that less error accidents will occur, I am sure that a few will still happen because that is just life but more than likely the number of accidents would decrease.
1. It would depend how ba the ingury was. If it wasn't serious like just a cut or a bruise I would probably keep riding one but if I would get something like a concution I would start wearing a helmet and try to be safer.
2. I think they should promote wearing a helmet and pads so if someone fall they wont scrape their knees or bump their head.
That is true! If I got a scratch I would definitely get back on a scooter, but if I broke my arm I would think twice before I willingly drove a scooter again. Wearing things like knee pads and helmets are a great idea to help keep the riders safe and insure that they most likely won't get injured again.
I wouldn't stop using a Scooter if it was my fault that I got injured. I think it is a good thing to be in the fresh air and still be fast. I agree with you that a seperate street for scooters could increase the risk. Probably could also a bike road be used by scooters.
Yes, it is good to be out in the fresh air when living in warm states and cities all year round! I think scooters are a good idea to have, and by having seperate roads for them or letting scooter drivers use bike paths that already exist, it would help keep pedestrians and scooter riders safer.
Yes, gear to protect you would be a great way to stay safer while riding the scooters. But another thing to consider would be the walking pedestrians, what if someone hit them? The CDC giving scooters their own lane or path would be a perfect way to insure that both riders and walkers are safe as they come and go. A speed limit for the scooters is also a great idea, that would make sure that they are at least a little bit safer.
