On Wednesday afternoon a 39 year old man was riding some waves with three friends. They were on beach at Vandenberg Air Force Base. His friend saw the shark attack him and tried to save him. A shark researcher said that it was a 15-16 foot shark. A couple years ago a shark attacked a 19 year old also. That shark was said to be 14-20 foot. Could it be the same shark? What are your thoughts?

That would be extremely scarey if your friend got attacked by the shark. It would probably scare me from going surfing again. I wonder if it is a different shark in the same area.
That's really sad that all he was doing was surfing and he got attacked i hope he is okay and it might be the same shark but its not the only big shark in the water so it could just be coincidence.
I don't think i will ever go surfing because of this reason. when you're on the boards it looks like a seal, a shark's favorite food. shark's dont mean to hurt people, they just can't tell the difference between a seal and a surfer.
Thats sad and as for it being the same shark i kind of doubt that if its been a couple years since the other attack.

It could be the same shark but i doubt it cause there is a bunch of other 14 to 20 foot great whites in the ocean. It's really sad that this had to happen though.
I definitely think that it is possible that it is the same shark, but it probably isnt very likely. Usually sharks bite humans due to mistaken identity, or curiosity. But usually sharks who bite out of curiosity take one bite and leave, but this shark continued to attack which makes you wonder if the shark was rouge, or if possibly if it is the same animal from the other attack that has an acquired taste for human flesh.
Oh my gosh I would be so scared! It could very possibly be the same shark! It is crazy that this stuff happens so quickly and there is really no time to think! When i go in oceans i am always scared of sharks and getting attacked! It is scary!
I could not believe he saw his friend being attacked..That is so sad! He even tried helping him...Thats just so sad. I wonder if that is the same shark... I hope the family is doing okay.
Oh my gosh! Thats too bad! I could never imagine this happening to someone, its really sad to think about. I hope this guy is ok because its obviously really serious! I doubt that it was the same shark, but it may have been because of the size similarity. If the shark attacked the 19 year old only a few years back in this same area, why wouldnt they have caught it or still let people go in the water?
