In Pikesville, Maryland a 13-year old boy was dared to kiss a fellow classmate. When the administrators found out of the incidence they went to the school resource officer. The girl was interviewed by police and said that the boy grabbed her shirt and opened mouth kissed her. He was charged as a juvenile with second-degree assault and released to his mother. The boy also faces punishment for breaking the school code of conduct.
I think that him being charged with second degree assault may be a little extreme, but if she felt like that is what needed to be done I hope she felt justice was made.
Do you think that be charge in second degree assault was right? Why or why not?

Good job Maggie!
I think what he did was wrong and he definitely should be charged for his actions, but a second degree assault is a little bit extreme in my opinion. I think detentions and extra work would be enough.
I think it was a little extreme, now that kid is going to live with that for the rest of the life. People change majorly as teens, and that's not a huge deal. I think maybe that dared him should be getting in trouble too if they're going to make it this big of a deal.
I don't think he should have to suffer with second degree assault on his record for the rest of his life, for a dare like this.
I think that the boy should be charged with detentions and suspension but not 2nd degree assault.
I think those would be a better punishment to the boy instead of 2nd degree assault as well.
Well the boy should definitely be punished, but not to that extreme. Maybe a suspension for awhile or maybe even an expulsion, but that's not up to me. She felt like that's what needed to be done.
I think suspension would have been better punishment.
sure the boy should have never touched the girl or even open mouth kissed her sounds wild.. I think the second degree assault may have been a little too much i guess I would really have to hear the whole story to understand why such a charge.
I think this boy should definitely be punished for grabbing the girl, but charging him with 2nd degree assault is a little much I think.
