For people who may not know what the 'Miracle On Ice' is, it was a hockey game in the 1980 Olympics. The cinderella team was led by the head coach Herb Brooks who had previously coached hockey teams before. The team was built of college hockey players that wanted to make it big. This is one of the greatest hockey games to ever be played, the game was between the USSR Soviets and the United States of America. A little background information on the Soviet team, they had been playing together for ten plus years some fifteen plus, before this hockey game against the amateur USA team that was put together in 1998.
Some people believe that this hockey game was fixed, there are two different theories about why people think it is fixed. First, a retired USSR Soviet defender Slava Fetisvo had blamed the KGB (Committee for State Security, was the secret police force that was the main security agency for the Soviet Union). At the time of the 1980 Olympics, the Dynamo Moscow was a team represented by the KGB. The other team was KSKA Moscow and they were represented by the red army. The KSKA was a better team than the Dynamo's, and they also had better players as well, however, during the Olympic games the worse or less skilled Dynamo team got more playing time in the games. Many people think that this is one reason why the game was fixed.
Second, during the 1980 Olympics, President Jimmy Carter was in talks about boycotting at the 1980 summer Olympic games, the summer games were held in Moscow Russia. Eventually, the United States of America did end up boycotting the Summer Olympic Games in Moscow. This took a lot of publicity and public interest from the games in Moscow because of the USA's boycott in the Summer Olympics. Because of this, it left many to believe or think that the 'Miracle On Ice' was a ploy to keep the United States of America from boycotting again, however, this did not work.
I personally think that neither of these two theories is true, but if I had to pick one it would be the first. I have three good reasons why I think this one is true. First, I do think that Russia or the Soviet Union has done some sketchy things before and this wouldn't be the first time they messed something up or made one thing turn out the other way. Second, the Soviets were heavily favored to win this hockey game, especially after the game Coach Herb Brooks scheduled days before the Olympics with the team from the Soviet Union at Madison Square Garden in New York. Third, I think that it is weird why the Soviets wouldn't give their better players more playing time this is most defiantly sketchy in multiple ways.
Do you think that the 1980 Olympics were fixed? If so why or why not?
Which of the two conspiracy theories do you believe? Why or why don't you/do you believe these conspiracies?

Great topic choice and good summary Stephen. You should have included a source with this and you also could have promoted your story more by "bumping" it a few more times to the topci of the page.
I agree with the first one because it doesn't make any sence to play thier less skilled players over thier best players, that's the red flag of it and wouldn't people catch on to it because they know who the lesser skilled players are. The Soviets were also facored to win before the game and in saying that, it's most likely for them to cheat their way into winning.
I also agree with the first one as well and I see what you're thinking too.
