Massive Storms Leave Hundreds Dead

Devastating Storms unleashed late Friday night and early Saturday morning across central and southern parts of the country. These storms ravished states such as Kentucky, Arkansas, Missouri, and Mississippi. It’s reported more than 30 tornadoes were moved across the affected states. Causing hundreds dead and millions worth of damage. Many governors of the affected states have sent letters to President Joe Biden seeking federal recovery funds. Biden hasn't had time for a response in full, but is quoted, "in touch with state and local officials as the search for survivors and damage assessments continue.”

This disaster was declared as a state of emergency in Kentucky with the Governor even reporting that the death toll will surpass 80 as bodies are still being recovered. Particularly in Mayfield Kentucky where 110 workers were inside a candle factory when crushing winds collapsed the building to rubble. In the Nashville International airport, it is reported that winds reached a record-breaking 78 mph. These winds have left nearly 30,000 residents without power in the Nashville area.

In my opinion, I believe that this disaster was the worst storm of 2021. I also think that the United States government should send money, supplies, and workers to help clean up the ruble. I think the sooner help is sent to these affected states than the quicker we fix and focus on other problems in the United States. I believe this storm will affect America's economy and infrastructure in the central and southern United States for lots of time to follow.

Questions:

1. Do you think enough is being done to help the affected states?

2. In general, What are your thoughts about these storms?

    • I agree more could be done to help the communities that were hit hardest by the devastating storms.

  • I think enough is being done because this is America and we always find a way to get the city rebuilt. I think this is a terrible disaster because the city is leveled. I hope everyone is okay that had to experience this terrible event. I also think that this is probably the worst disaster in 2021.

  • I think more will definetely need to be done to rebuild this towns sooner. Hopefully the governers will get the federal help they need because this is a very bad incidient. I think that tornadoes can cause some of the worst damage known to man and that what happened here is horrible.

    • I agree that the towns need to be built sooner to benefit everyone. Also, I agree that this incident needs to be handled quickly because it's a very bad incident.

  • I think that people are doing all that they can. The police, firefighters, first responders everyone is putting in the work to help make this alittle eaiser. I'm so sorry that these people have lost so much but when it come's to a storm like this there really is nothing we can do to prepare for it, we have to just ride it thru hopfully in a safe place. Thats what people need to make sure they have befor hand is somewhere they could go where the whole family would be safe. I just hope that they can rebuild and recover from this storm.

    • I agree that it's quite sad to see that many people have lost everything due to this crisis of a storm.

  • Personally I don't think that enough is being done to help the affected states if they're still suffering to this extreme. These storms are absolutely terrible, I wish there was a way that we could ease the effects of them.

    • I agree that more should be done to help those affected by the storms and that the government should send supplies to communities in need.

  • No I don't think enough is being done for these states right now, and the government needs to step up, and take action for what is happening right now in America. These storms are terrible, and devasting for families. So, the government needs to step up, and start helping the states affected by the tornadoes.

    • I agree that not enough is being done to help those affected by the massive storms. I also agree that if the government would step up and take action this crisis would be handled.
