6 Year Old Shot Dead

Two Police Officers in Louisiana are facing Murder Charges for killing a 6 year old boy. The shooting happened after a chase was stopped on a dead in street in Marksville, Louisiana. Jeremy Mardis a first grader was shot five times in the head and chest during the chase, while sitting in the front sat of his dads car. His father had multiple gunshot wounds to his chest and was listed in critical condition.

Norris Greenhouse Jr. 23, and Derrick Stafford 32, were charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder. They were placed on administrative leave as long with the two others that were involved in the chase as well but have not been charged. As of Saturday evening, Stafford and Greenhouse were being held at the Avoyelles Parish Detention Center in Cottonport, Louisiana.  They were being held separately from the facility's general population. They both had another job as city marshals when it happened. Greenhouse is a full-time Marksville police lieutenant and Stafford is a marshal in Alexandria.

How would you feel if this happened to your family?

How long do you think the Police Officers are going to be in prison for?

  • Good job but all of your replies were on one day.

  • Not all cops are bad, but some definitely abuse their power. You have to do what you have to do in the name of the law, but there's no reason a little boy should have lost his life, imagine how terrified he was. If that were my baby, I'd make sure those cops got what they deserved. That's tragic.

  • If this happened to my family I would get the 2 police offecers and make sure they never see the light of day again and make sure they could never use there hands again. Even if that means I would go to prison family is life and if family get taken away then what kind of a life is that.

I think they will be in prison for 25 to life.

    • I also think that he should be in prison for life but i think that making sure they never see the light of day again is a little excessive

  • I would feel terrible, but then again they shouldn't have been running from the police. They will be in prison for a long time for killing a child and nearly killing a man. I'm torn on this case because the dad shouldn't have been running from the cops especially if he has his son in the car, but then again the cops shouldn't have been shooting if they were in a dead in street.

    • I agree with the last part of that but the kid might have been safe if he was in the backseat of the car not the front seat.

  • I would be very sad if my six year old was dead. I would also be confused as to why these police officers targeted them. I think that they should be in prison for life.

    • I also think they should be in prison for life and maybe the little boy would still be alive if he wasn't in the front seat

  • I would be confused on why it was my family and what they did to deserve to be shot so many time that one was killed and one in critical condition. I think they should go for a life time.

    • I would hate being that family right now and i agree that those police officers should go to prison for life.
