Forensic scientists have moved closer to solving a 5,500-year-old cold case crime after new technology allowed them to study fatal wounds on the body of a famous mummy. The corpse, known officially as the Gebelein Man, has been nicknamed Ginger due to his red hair and seen by millions of visitors to the British Museum.

I think that technology has gone a long way since the Egyptian times. What do you think about the story?

  • i think that this is a very interesting story but why do they care why he died it was 5500 years ago it was probably just old age.

  • This is crazy! i mean for the scientists involved to want to solve a murder case this old its cool. It shows how far we have come since then, when they couldnt even solve it back 5,500 years ago and here we are now coming closer to solving the mystery!

  • I think it's crazy that they are still able to work on solving a case once it is that old. Technology really has come a very long way.

  • It amazes me that we can estimate how old things are and how they died. Technology has come so far is the past few years to be able to allow us to do this such as this.

  • Thats crazy how they can figure things out about this guy who has been dead...for a long time! but, that kind of seems like a lost cause. I mean 5,500 years ago?!? maybe we should use the time and technology to work on more recent cases.

  • That's crazy how science can do that and great name for a red head. Why would you want to know how a guy from 5,500 years ago died?

  • I think that this is incredibly interesting but I think that they are kind of wasting time that they could be using to solve more modern mysteries.

  • Wow, thats crazy! its cool we have mostly solved it! ginger? what a weird name!!

  • I think that it's cool and everything that they almost solved such an old case, but what's the point? It's been 5500 years since it happened, so what's going to happen when they solve the case? But it's cool that they have come up with technology that's able to analyze a mummy this old.

  • You can pretty much solve any crime mystery these days with all of the technology that we have at our disposal. We are learning about stuff like this in our Biology class.
