4 Charged With Murder in Ohio Family Killings

8 members of the Rhoden family were found dead in a rural area in Ohio on April 22, 2016. Officials had investigated for 2 1/2 years. They had even traveled to Alaska where the prime suspects had lived. The Wagner's were the prime suspects. One of their sons, Edward Wagner had been charged with unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. The family faces felony charges for obstructing justice and allegedly misleading investigators. Authorities said that many of the victims were killed while sleeping. Authorites said that this families death changed a lot of lives and there was lots of tears and crying. They made a promise that they were going to make arrests and meet justice, and they finally did after 2 years.

1. Why do you think a family from Alaska may be involved in this when they are so far away from Ohio?

I think that they were looking for some kind of revenge or believed that something was wrong so they decided to go somewhere far to commit crimes and no one would think they could possibly be from Alaska.

2. Why do you think this investigation took so long to solve?

Well the suspects were all the way in Alaska and no one would've thought they would be living or hiding out so far.

  • Good job overall. You could have replied a few more times.

  • I think this family may have known thm or wanted maybe a type of revenege. Or their simply just bad people and committing crimes which is very possible. They didn't have enough information and they couldn't finish the investigation.

  • I think that they thought living in Alaska it would be hard for anyone to track them down. I think that it took so long, because after even just a few days, they could be anywhere in the world, and it would take a long time to track them down.

  • I don't really know, maybe they used to live in Ohio together but something happened. I think that the distance between the suspect and the victims may have caused the investigation to take more time.

  •  I think they did because they thought no one would know it would be them because they are from Alaska

Because they were from Alaska and people would think it would be someone from Ohio who did it

  • I think that the investigation took a long time because authorities had to go deep into backgrounds and other information. The suspects were also finally found in Alaska, which is an unexpected location since the family was killed in Ohio.

  • Maybe they thought the distance would help them stay under the radar and no one would ever think that people as far away as Alaska could be able to do something like this. I think a lot of investigations take a while, but because of the fact that Alaska is very far from Ohio, and since authorities wanted to make sure they had their facts straight, this investigation took a long time.

  • I think they could've been looking for revenge or didn't have much reason behind it or motives. I think it took so long because they disappeared to Alaska and people didn't figure that would happen.

    • Yes, I agree with you. I think they were also looking for some kind of revenge on the family but it still doesn't make it right to commit this crime or any crime at all. I also agree that it took so long because they lived so far.

  • There could of been bad blood from the people or a bad deal/trade happend to provoke this. I think it took them this long because who would of expected them in Alaska. Also that a far away place and pretty big so that cold also play a factor.
