Summary:
Santiago was put in jail and charged with child endangerment when his 6 year old shot and killed his 3 year old brother. The father was at work and the mother was at the store when they were playing the game. So the grandfather was the one in charge of watching them. The boy found the gun in the kitchen wrapped in pajama pants on top of the refrigerator. The grandfather sent the boys downstairs to get something to clean up after the dog with, a short while later he heard the gun go off. The father is being held on a $75,000 bond.
My Thoughts:
As a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, I wish people would be more careful with firearms in their homes. They should keep them in safer places so we wouldn't have to worry about incidents like this and people trying to get stricter gun control laws passed. It's still terrible that this happened to the young boy. The 6 year old is going to have to live the rest of his life knowing that he killed his younger brother.
Questions:
What would you do if you were one of the parents that got a call saying your child shot your other child?
What do you think about the gun laws that we have now?
Replies
Again, excellent job!!
I would drop the phone and start crying. There's nothing wrong with the gun laws now. People jut don't know how to respond and act with those laws.
I think I'd be so shocked that I wouldn't even be able to get a cry out.
If I were a parent of a child that had just been shot by my other child, I would be devastated. I don't think there is anything wrong with the gun laws, just how irresponsible the parents are for not having the weapon locked in a safe, and loaded.
I couldn't even begin to imagine what those parents are going through right now, I'm sure that it's indescribable.
i would be sad, i would probably be thinking how, and why. i believe the gun laws are far, its not the guns fault its the owners.
You're right, people just need to be smart with guns, especially with young children in your home while you aren't there.
Keeping it on them would be a good idea when they're in the home, maybe put it in a safe when you're not home to take care of it.
I think gun laws should be stricter to get a hold of one and to tell people to have better security of the weapons.
People definitely need more training with guns. Too many careless people are going out and getting guns and being stupid with them.
