Edward Anderson has served as an Arizona State Trooper for 27 years, so when he saw a roll over car crash (with a woman dying after being ejected from the vehicle) around 4 AM he followed procedure. He has just put down flairs when the shooter appeared and shot the officer. The suspect then began to slam Anderson's head into the pavement. It was at this time that an unidentified civilian witnessed what was going on and asked the Officer if he needed help, when Anderson told him yes the civilian went tot his car and returned with a firearm. He then shot the suspect, Pennelas-Escobar a former Mexican Police officer, who was in the US illegally, and was also using illegal drugs, was shot and killed at the scene. Anderson was taken to the hospital but was later released.
Questions-
Do you think it was right for the civilian to shoot and kill the suspect?
Why do you think the suspect, Pennelas-Escobar, attacked Officer Anderson?
My thoughts-
I think it was completely right and justified for the civilian to shoot and kill the suspect because he asked the officer if he needed help first, not to mention he also saved the officers life. Also I think the suspect attacked Officer Anderson because he wasn't really thinking straight since he had been on drugs, so he must have saw the cop and gotten mad and decided to attack.

Great job Brady!
I think it was probably a good idea to shoot the suspect since they were shooting at an officer. The officer also said that he needed help so that is what the civilian did. I think the suspect attacked the officer because they were on drugs and was probably going crazy.
I think that since the person was shooting at a cop it was right for the civilian to shoot them. I think he started shooting at the officer because he was on drugs and illegal in this country.
I believe that if the officer was wounded and asked for help that the civilian had the right to help him out even though he didn't have to use a weapon. I believe that maybe since he was illegally in the US that maybe he knew sometime he was going to get caught so he didn't care what he did.
I agree with you all though it may have been smart to use the weapon instead of attacking the suspect in hand to hand combat when the suspect had a gun. I also agree with you when you say that he might get caught and that's why he attacked. Thanks for the comment!
Yes I think that shooting the suspect was the right thing to do. The officer gave the civilian permission to help out. I think the man attacked the cop because he was using drugs and wasn't thinking straight, he might have also thought that the cop was suspicious about him.
I completely agree with you! The civilian did the right thing first then attacked one the cop said he needed help. I also agree with you when you say that he might have been suspicious of the suspect but the suspect might have been a little off since he was on drugs. Thanks for the comment!
Yes I think that shooting the suspect was the only way to get him to stop hurting the cop especially if he was armed. I think the man attacked the cop because he was using drugs and he was in the state illegally and he was afraid that the cop was coming to get him and arrest him for being illegal.
Yes, I think it was right for the civilian to shoot the suspect because the officer needed help so the civilian did the right thing. I don't know why Pennelas-Escobar attacked the officer, I'm just guessing because he was on drugs.
Yes, because the suspect was harming a former police officer, and the civilian saved his life, which is a good thing, i believe. I believe that Pennelas Escobar attacked Officer Anderson, because he was afraid that he would be deported.
