The Oscar nominations are out, but there are other things that have been left out as well.Snubs:Drive-A critically acclaimed film that was sure two or three months ago to get some nods, but it didn't.The Muppets-Should have dominated the Best Original Song category, but it didn't.Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2-Harry usually doesn't get many nods, but with this being the last one, you'd think that maybe...but they didn't. (Alan Rickman goes here as well)Rise of the Planet of the Apes-Yeah, the special effects are great, but Andy Serkis actually did the motions for the lead monkey. You'd think that great work would pay off...but it didn't.Surprises:The Iron Lady-Best Makeup? Really? The Tree of Life-Mostly everyone thought that the Oscars would forget this film. But they didn't.Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy-Gary Oldman rightfully belongs where he is, but Best Orignal Score is a pleasant suprise.Cars 2-Pixar has had a film in the Best Animated Feature category for years, and it almost always wins, but not this year. The Adventures of Tintin-Only a Best Original Score nomination. Not really a good thing. The Ides of March-Once again, most thought it would be ignored.Margin Call-Way out from left field comes this film. I think We Win or Young Adult should fill its spot.Nick Nolte for Best Supporting Actor-Warrior was almost forgotten, and I'm glad to see Nick Nolte here.Rooney Mara for Best Actress-The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo was looking for some smaller awards, but not a lead actress. Good inclusion I'm sure.Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close for Best Picture: Drugs, I tell you! It's the drugs. It's almost as bad as Transformers getting nominated. Oh wait, it did!Write your reactions to this list and the full list of nominees are in another forum.
