Christopher White and Daniel BarrettTransformers: Dark of the Moon – Scott Farrar, Scott Benza, Matthew Butler and John FrazierHere are my picks:Best Visual Effects: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2-Come on, they've gotta give HP something. Why not this?Best Film Editing: Hugo-This is only a guess. This is a really dicey category. My second pick is The Artist.Best Costume Design: Anonymous-The Academy loves period pieces. Second pick is Hugo.Best Makeup: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2-It is obvious that The Iron Lady is going down. It's really between this and Albert Nobbs.Best Cinematography: War Horse-Likely the only award this film will get, so give it to the one it deserves most.Best Art Direction: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2-Stuart Craig has been waiting a decade for his name to be called. The time is now!Best Sound Mixing: War Horse-This category is up for grabs. It usually goes to the best action movie of the year, but since it is absent, I might as well go with War Horse.Best Sound Editing: Hugo-Despite what you may think, these two categories rarely go to the same movie.Best Original Song: The Muppets for Man or Muppet-No doubt one of the funniest songs of the year, and it's a no-brainer.Best Original Score: The Artist-Since the film is silent, all you hear is music. That alone makes it a shoe-in.Best Animated Feature: Rango-The award is really between this and Adventures of Tintin, but since that isn't here, might as well hand out the award right now.Best Adapted Screenplay: Moneyball-Again, likely the only award this film will get, but the one it most deserves.Best Original Screenplay: Midnight in Paris-Easily the pick here.Best Supporting Actress: Octavia Spencer for The Help-This is a shot in the dark category this year, but since The Help is so acclaimed, might as well.Best Supporting Actor: Christopher Plummer for Beginners-Don't think twice. He has won every other award show for this position.Best Actress: Viola Davis for The Help-Again, a tie between Michelle Williams and Viola Davis, but Viola.Best Actor: George Clooney for The Descendants-No-brainer. The film wouldn't even be possible without Clooney, who like Plummer, has won Best Actor in everything else.Best Director: Michel Hazanavicius for The Artist-The film has already done so much to get it's foot in the Oscar door, and Michel makes sure his foot is alongside the other.Best Picture: The Artist-Bam, easy choice. Same reason as above.Your input matters, too. Shout out your picks.
