2-Plans for 3-D guns?

On Monday a federal judge ruled that Cody Wilson, the crypto anarchist , will have to keep waiting to 3-D print guns. Cody Wilson isn't the only man with the blue prints for a 3-D gun but he is the most well known for it becasue he posts many blueprints about his products. He isn't allowed to publish any of his blueprints because people could se them in the wrong way. This situation has brought up many issues but the main concern is gun control.

1. Do you think Cody Wilson will ever get to publish his blueprints for 3-D guns?

I don't think he will because we have been fighting over gun control for awhile and if we start to print them off it will be easier to people to get ahold of them. Even though it isn't a real gun it may be able to do some damge.

2.Do you agree with what the judge has to say about this isssue?

I agree that Cody will have to wait but at the same time there is no way to tell how long he willl have to wait because gun laws are trying to be changed all the time.

  • Good job replying! I do think your summary could have been a bit longer.

  • I believe one day he will, but I'm sure it would be a lengthy process to actually get your hands on one. I'm sure there would be many regulation concerning the blue prints, just like there are regulations for buying real guns.

I do agree that there needs to be some rules to these gun blue prints, so waiting to sell them would be a good idea. However, I believe it is unfair to the creator to keep him waiting for so long.

    • I think there may be a day when he can publish the blueprints but im not sure if it will be anytime soon. I think it would be so hard to make regulations for these guns because you can customize so much with a 3-D printer that you might have to make regulations for different designs.

  • No, I dont't think he will ever get to publish this because people could make them on their own and not be certified. Yes, I do agree with the judge on their decision. It would be pretty scary if everyone had access to these guns.

    • I agree, anyone could print the guns and it isn't safe for anyone to just be able to make their own guns.

  • I hope that Cody Wilson will never be able to publish these plans because I think that would be a huge problem for our country because so many people would have access to guns. I do agree with was the judge has to say once again because I think it would be very unsafe for everyone to have access to a gun that easily.

    • I agree it will be an easier way for people to get guns which is definitaly something we dont need right now. I agree with you because it would be unsafe for anyone since there is no age limit on when you can use a 3-D printer.

  • I agree with the judge because this could errupt commotion around the world with the way gun control is right now. Cody will probably not ever be able to publish his blue prints because then the government will have to make laws on 3-D printed guns, and they probably won't want to deal with the outrage they cause.

    • I agree, there could be more problems with guns if these blueprints are published. I also agree thatCody may not be able to publishh any of his blueprints because it will cause many problems.

    1. I think it doesn't matter if he posts them or not. It's not like there aren't thousands of other people who can create and sketch their own. My uncle, John, up in California can 3D Print really well. John owns 5 3D printers, and I went up to engineering this year for an engineering intern. There are plenty of blueprints that are already out there. My uncle has blue prints for a hand gun already. Once it goes up even once on big 3D orinting companies like thingiverse, my mini factory, etc. They get downloaded by thousands, and eventually redistributed. John also told me that he is sketching his own AR-15 from his real metal one that he's dismantled and put back together.

    2. I agree and disagree. I see why he doesn't want them out. In reality they are already out. In some states they are even legal. Here's a post about California, and there stand on 3D printed guns, also where my uncle lives.
