A landslide occurred on Saturday in Washington State. The landslide was caused due to excessive saturation in the ground. 16 houses were damaged and 6 were destroyed in the midst. 18 people are now unaccounted for. The rescue team was searching for survivors, but many people were getting stuck in the mud. Travis Hots, the county fire chief, stated that the mud was too deep to search for people and that it was a safety concern. He deemed that they couldn't search for people at that time. The flow of mud was said to be 15 feet deep in places and that it had the quality of quicksand. Rescuers heard voices around midnight on Saturday. Today, they haven't heard any people crying for help. They are still out searching for the 18 unaccounted people.
What would you do if you were in charge of the search? Would you stop the search due to safety issues or keep fighting to try to save those people?

It is probably best that the did stop searching because I'm sure there could have been a few casualties from it. I would have used some sort of helicopters or gotten on one of the safe cliffs with some rope.
That is really deep mud, I would probably keep trying to find people even though it isn't 100 percent safe.
Its so sad that people have to go through that. I don't know what I would do if I was in the victims' place. I would want to help them as fast as I could.
Wow that is nuts how deep the mud is! I would definitely try and keep fighting to save most of the people.
I think it would be a sticky situation to be in. If it was my opinion, I would have held off the search for a little bit, just to secure some lives. I wouldn't want more lives to be lost, but I would also want to attempt to save the others, and this would take time.
i have no idea what i would do if i was in charge! b/c you wanna save those people but you dont want to injure more by trying to save them, idk tough situation
I would try my hardest to find all the unaccounted people. Even though it would be dangerous, I would probably continue the search. If someone is willing to risk their life to find someone else, why not let them search?
I would keep searcing for them, especially since they heard voices!
I would too, but then they stopped hearing them...I don't know what I would do.
