15 New Emotions Identified

Most people already know the common facial expressions that we use to determine the emotion of the person you’re looking at, but do we really know how they feel. These regular expressions like surprised and angry have been sub-categorized into terms that narrow these down more into names like fearfully surprised and sadly angry. Most people don’t give a second look about these terminologies but understanding this language of faces help us decide whether the person is lying, upset, or even scared. For instance I believe if you notice a friend that is angry and use these tips to determine their sate of emotion it will help you realize what to do in this situation, if whether they are so angry they need space or are feeling 'sadly angry' and just need a friend to talk to.
These scientists quoted, “These compound emotions are all distinguishable from one another, the researchers say. For instance, "happily surprised" is very different from ‘fearfully surprised’ or ‘happily disgusted.’

I think this is very interesting! What about you? Have you ever had where someone is acting different but you can't tell what they are feeling to talk to them, give an example. Do you think this would help people? In what ways?

  • Well done!!

  • This is dumb you're still one of the original few that was first noted by researchers. Mixing then like sad angry is dumb you either one or the other.

    • Yes, that is true although happily and sadly surprised can be two very different things. It could be the difference by someone loving the present you got them or hating it!

  • thats cool but not exactly a breakthrough... wheres my hoverboard!

    • Sorry to tell you Elias but hover boards haven't come yet! Hopefully someday but it will be years before they are truly stable and safe for humans. Next thing you know the public won't be focused on texting and driving but texting and hover boarding! Our technology is vast although and there are new inventions everyday so do not give up! Who know maybe you'll be the one to invent it!

  • I can definitely agree to some of these facial expressions.  It's annoying when you can tell there is something wrong with somebody but you just can't tell what.

  • Yes, I have been in situations where I know something is wrong, but cant tell what is completely wrong.

  • That's neat. I feel like the mans faces are over exaggerated. I've never seen people actually make those faces.

    • Yes those were also my thoughts that even some of these look a lot alike I mean fearfully surprised, fearfully disgusted, and awed all look like the same EXACT expression!

  • It seems like they just combined emotions together to me, but whatever floats your boat... I know several people with whom I have a hard time telling what they're feeling like... Their face is always the same whether they're happy or sad or angry
