On September 8 a 14-year-old boy was arrested in Mississippi for threatening to "shoot up the school". The school started on August 6. so only a week into the school year a 14-year-old boy allegedly threatened on social media to shoot up his high school on a Friday night. He said on social media he said: "shoot up the school Monday". The student was arrested only one day after he made the threat on social media. He is being charged with making a terrorist threat on social media and he is being held at Jackson County Youth Detention Center at the moment. The 14-years-old boy attendes St. Martin High School (SMHS) in Ocean Springs and the school was sending letters to the parents about the threat and about the school taking the threat very seriously. I think they did the right thing. Rather overreacted and be save than not reacted and it would have happened. But he is only 14-years-old and maybe he didn't know have serious it really was but he needs to the consequences. and Personally, if I saw my friend posting that on social media I would have talked to him/her and asked if they truly meant it and then react to it.

Do you think the school overreacted, reacted good or how do you think the school should have responded to the threat and have in mind he is only 14-years-old?
What would you have done in this situation if one of your friends posted a threat on social media about shooting the school?

Good story choice and I was glad to see you got up early today(Friday) to comment. Be sure to comment on three different days next time. I would also encourage you to type your summary in Microsoft Word first. That will help with spelling and punctuation and other things like that as you continue to learn English better.
I believe the school took the correct precautions in order to ensure the safety of the other students. I also believe that this punishment will show the student in question and other students that it's not a matter to joke about and the school will not take anything else of the sort lightly.
If I saw something of this sort on my social media I would talk to my mom about it and make sure she turns it over to the school.
I don't think the school overreacted because he made a threat saying he was going to shoot up the school. Even if he was joking it's not funny and he needs to know the consequences of doing things like that. If one of my friends did someting like that I would show my mom or dad and let them handle it.
But what should the school do to him and the students? also if they don't do anything punishment maybe people would do it again because there is on punishment? and I agree on showing it to your parents and let them handle it.
I think that they did make the right decision in taking it seriously but they should have investigated more before locking him up. I would have told an adult, but I would have also talked to them about it and why they posted about it.
Have should they investigate it more? talk to his friends and see if he has said something before or what do you mean? and you said you would talk to the person that did it what would you say? I would say take it down and talk to them about why they did as you said but also if they know the consequence of posting it on social media.
I think that the school did the right thing and didn't overreact. I feel like if schools were to just brush things like this off there would be many more school shootings. If one of my friends would have posted something like this, I would have at first talked to them to see if it was a joke. If it wasn't, then I would report it.
I think the school took the right meassures to ensure the safty of all the kids in the school. Some kids dont understand the things they should and shouldn't post on the internet. If one of my friends posted something like this then I would tell them they sould take it down or something bad might come of it.
you say some people don't know what to post on the internet. should the schools do more about it? talk in school or is it more the parents' job to tell their kids what to do on the internet?
I think the school did reacted good because it is not something to joke about. School shootings happen more than they should, and kids are dying in school, so I think it is good he was arrested. It does not matter that he is young he should know better than to say he is going to shoot a gun at school. IF I saw this one social media, I would tell the school and police.
