On February 28th in Twisp, Washington, the White family was asleep when at around 2:30 am their dog started barking. Tom White, father, went outside to scare it away but within a few hours it had come back so he had to scare it off again. At 3:30 pm that same day, Tanner White, 14, had gone outside to feed the dogs when he saw the cougar. He went inside immediately and saw that the cougar was only 10 feet from the door. Shelby White, 11, who had a cougar tag, went outside and shot the cougar as it stood outside the house. According to authorities, the cougar was very thin. The cougar appeared to be around 4 years old. At that age, it should have been around 100 pounds but it was only 50. A few weeks earlier, Cody White, 9, shot and killed a cougar that was on their farm. There had been a total of 3 cougars that were shot and killed on the White property in two weeks.
What do you think of this family? Are these children too young to have hunting licenses?

I think its good that the children have hunting liscenses so they can defend themselves
No the kids are not to young. SHOOTEMUP KIDS, I would have to say pretty brave kids. Wish I lived there.
no. It is good for them to have them and be able to use guns just for cases like these.
I don't think that they are too young to have hunting licences because of exactly this reason. I think the family was smart to kill the cougars because they put the family in a lot of danger and they could have been harmed.
No, I think it's a good thing to have a hunting license. It helps them with self defense with where they live. It seems they get a lot of wildlife that could be potentially dangerous. It's a good thing, though, that the cougar was half the weight it should've been otherwise it might've put up a harder fight against Shelby.
Its very interesting that they have killed 3 in two weeks. If the children were taught gun safety and there is an adult with them to make sure they are safe, than I believe that they are old enough to have their own licenses.
I can't believe that an 11 year old girl killed a cougar.
I think this family is very brave and isn't really scared of anything. she killed a cougar. who is able to do that? I know a lot of people could do that but at 11 years. crazy
Um this is scary, I'm glad I live in town! I've never even held a gun and I'm okay with that, I don't need a hunting license but I guess if they were in danger with those cougars it's good for them to have one. They were using it to protect themselves and I see no harm in that!
