This man ran into a group of students and adults shortly after school let out. It wasn't intentional, his brakes were out of control. He has his driver's license, and according to it, he will be 101 on Sept 5. Carter did not get arrested, because he had a valid DL. He said that he didn't intentionally hurt the kids, but he was trying to back onto a driveway, and ended up going on the sidewalk. As of now, none of the kids are deceased, but many were hurt badly and are stabilized. Hopefully all the kids will live!
There is a law that states anyone over 70 must renew their license in person, rather than online or through mail. Some may have to take a test even.
I believe that if his mind was well working, and his DL was valid, that he had the right to drive, just like any of us. Although 100 seems rather unusual to be driving still, people still do. Maybe you think of 100+ year olds living in nursing homes or something like that. Personally, I believe that as long as they are able to maintain a lifestyle that fits them, they can be on their own. I know personally, that my grandpa refused to go to a nursing home, he didn't want to. If someone is in their right mind, they should get the option of where they want to go. What are your thoughts? Should older people be able to drive?

i know this is an accident, but he is 101 and he should defiantly not be driving!! i thinkt thats a little old for my likings of a safe driver! if youre older you need to pay a lot more attention!!
I feel that if they are in able condition to drive and you have a valid license. It was not his fault that his brakes went out, I just hope all of the children are okay and something like this doesnt happen again.
it's good that nobody died so far to bad that the man had to have brakes go out but it is good that he is not sick or anything that he can still drive his car but he might not have his license renewed
Older people should be allowed to drive. Also, i hope those kids are okay! Even if it wasnt intentional, he should have payed a little bit more attention to where he was backing up.
If somebody is that old they shouldn't be driving. Their minds and bodies aren't quite the same at that age
I think that 100 ya should be driving. They had about 84 years of driving experience so logic says that they should be better than 45 yas. But you know that they lose their abilities over time. I think if if he can drive properly, he can remain a driver.
i think someone that old should be driving it is dangerous as we all get older our sences stop working hearing and seeing is key to driving. someone should of taken action. he should lose his licends and hopfully everyone is okay
I do agree that if a person is able to live on their own and is completely capable of doing everything on their own they should be able to drive. When you're older and you get told you cannot drive any longer, it's really basically taking away your freedom and I know that it was really hard when my grandpa was told he could not drive any long. But taking the test every few years after you reach a certain age is necessary because a lot of older people cannot operate cars as well after a certain age, depending on the person.
it doesnt matter how old someone is if they have the ability to drive then they should let them drive.
Poor Guy, he probably is like my grandpa and can't sit still, and always has to be doing something. If he has a driver's liscense I think he should still be able to drive.
