10 Foot Python found in Christmas Tree

Leanne Chapman can home to a very large, frightening surprise on Thursday in Australia when she noticed a 10 foot python curled around her christmas tree. Well, not right away. Upon first aproaching the front porch, Leanne and her partner first noticed a couple Butcher birds freaking out on their porch. Not knowing the reason, Leanne's partner pulled out his cellphone and began recording the birds... leaning against the tree in the process. It didn't take long before he realized he was not just leaning on a tree. The couple jumped away from the giant snake in surprise, but ultimately decided to leave it alone, allowing it to later slither away after wishing them a brief "Merry ChrHISSSSStmas".

I guess that's just how those Australian's role. "Oh, 10 foot python? Again? Ah, it'll wander off eventually, just like that foot long spider we found in the shower last week..."

Forget the kangaroos, I'm never moving to Australia.

Leanne Chapman was alerted to the python's presence by birds "kicking off on the balcony."

What would you do if you came home to a scene like this?

- Probably be very, very, freaked out at first, but as long as it is eventually removed from my house, I wouldn't be too worried. I actually kinda like snakes... as long as they don't strangle me in my sleep, but you know, its fine... And maybe there is a plus side to this! If you have a house cat, this'll keep them from scaling the tree...

Would you ever consider living in Australia with crazy animals like foot long spiders and 10 foot snakes?

 Imma pass, but thanks.

  • If I came home to a scene similar to this, I would freak out, mostly because pythons definitely aren't commonly foundin Iowa. Of course I would consider living in Australia. The animals are such a huge concern to me and the climate is decent.

    • I agree with you I would scream and I would leave my house and call animal control to come get the snake out of my hosue. I probably wouldn't go back to my house until a couple days after they took the snake just to make sure it is gone. I would never live in Australia with a 10 foot python.

  • If I came home to something like that I would freak out and run away from it, then I would call animal control to come remove it from my house. I probably would not ever live in Australia becasue of things like this becasue they scare me to much, but I would consider going on a short vacation there one day.

    • I agree with you I would freak out and leave my house. I would also call animal control to come get the snake, and I wouldn't go back into my house until I knew that snake was gone for sure. I would never live in Australia because I would be so scared of all the other aniamls like this. Not saying I wouldn't take a vacation there for a little while.

  • I'm not sure what I would do I would probably not want to be next to the tree and try to call a place to get rid of the snake. I would never live in Australia because I do not like spiders at all or snakes being everywhere like they are there.

    • I agree with you, I would get away from it and call aniaml control or something to come remove the snake from my house. I also would not want to live there because of the spiders, but I would consider going on a short vacation there one day.

  • First of all, this snake is massive. With that being said, I would be very frightened and surprised. I think that this is something that could happen to anyone. If for some reason it happened to me, I would most likely call our naturalist who lives in our town, and have her come and properly care for the snake. I would love to live in Australia, but I would just have to take more precautions to make sure I never have an encounter like this with any animals.

  • If I came home to a scene like this, I would also be very freaked out. Like you said, as long as it was eventually removed from my home, I would be fine.  After the initial incident, I would be on edge, and hope that it wouldn't happen again. I am not fond of snakes and spiders, so I would also pass living in Australia.

  • If I lived in an area where it was common I probably wouldn't be so freaked out. I would probably just call someone to come get the snake out for me. I have considered living there but I don't like the sand that much

    • I agree with you, if it was more common around here I would be used to it and would either just let it be and have it leave on its own, then if it didn't leave I would call someone to come remove it for me. I don't really want to live there, but I would like to go on a vacation there one day.
