Unlike adults, who can communicate about how stress impacts their lives, children and teens may not recognize or even have the words to describe how they're feeling. Students are experiencing stress at growing rates, with a 2014 American Psychological Association study finding teens in the U.S. are even more stressed than adults.
Because children and teens spend most of the day in classrooms, teachers can play a powerful role in limiting stress. One way to "displace nervous energy," according to mental health professional Stefanie Juliano, is to allow students to use standing desks, sit on exercise balls or even work on the floor. She also suggests creating a quiet, serene corner by adding a beanbag chair, relaxing pictures, and positive sayings.
I believe to decrease stress in students’ teachers could work together as a team to avoid piling on too much homework on the same nights or scheduling tests on the same day. Also, talking about issues bothering students doesn't have to take up a lot of instructional time. Even five minutes of going over concerns, writing them on the board, and addressing them later can help students put them aside. Another way that teachers could reduce stress is music. A study shows that music helps people relax and focus. Classical music is great for the classroom and can serve as a model for students when they study at home. In high school alone the main causes of stress are romantic relationships, social acceptance, earning good grades, preparing for college, and parental pressure.
What do you think about the stress that school gives students?
How do you think we can improve stress in schools or how can teachers improve stress in students?

I do feel that students are constantly under a lot of stress. I think we can improve it by lowering the homework teachers have, also trying to not put many tests the same day, or even projects for the same day as another class.
I think students should not have a lot of work outsdie of class. It causes so much stress because of after school activites. I think with less outside of school work would help students with stressing less.
I think that students need less homework in class sow we can go home with no homework. Students like to have brack in school sow that the homework is not burden. More brack in the day would students be less stressed and have less pressure on them. If more brack were in the day students grades would inprove.
I agree. There could be an extra class at the end of the day (8th hour) that everyone has a study hall so we could get our homework done. Otherwise we have to take home homework and start after practices and any other activities after school.
I think that students should have a little longer breaks during school. The students would be less stressed and feel as if they have less pressure put on them. If we are allowed to have longer breaks students would be way less stressed.
I think that giving more breaks to students would help. kids will be less stressed and it will give them more time to relax and not worry so much. they dont have to what tests they have and what homework is due.
I agree. More time in between class periods would give the students to enjoy time with their friends and maybe family members in high school. Time in between classes also gives students the time to rest from school work.
The is quite a lot of stress in school, especially if someone decides to take more difficult classes. On top of that, many teenagers have after school jobs and then have to do their homework late into the night in order to catch up with their classes. It's a toxic cycle. Something that would help manage the stress would be eating good meals and abolishing homework.
I agree with everything you said. School assigns too much homework at times. Students have after-school jobs as you mentioned and they have sports practices or other extracurricular activities. Most students don't get enough sleep because of hours after hours of homework.
I think it is normal that there is stress. While going to school and I actually also think it is good to learn to deal with it. Even it is not that much fun. I agree with that teacher maybe shouldnt make their test all the same day.
