Mummy found in peru

Researcher from University of San Marcos, which is found in Lima, Peru found the body underground in the middle of a town square. The city official found the body with its limbs tied together and  its hands tied to cover its face. They said that it was an old funeral custom from the southern peruvians. The age of the mummy(800-1000 years ago) means that it was there back to pre-hispanic time and even precedes the inca civilization. studies showed that the body was a young man around age 25-30 years of age.

I think that if they found the body they should keep looking for more history beneath and perhaps close to the body. If they said that they started looking in mid october i probably wouldve given up after a couple weeks. They knew that something was there including dead or rotted marine "snails" because that is something that was a ritual to give offering to the dead. llama bones where also found beside the tomb, they said that llama meat was a well known meal and it was given to the deceased. Several other mummies were found in peru and many of them were older then this one that was found recently.

what you have done if you found this mummy?

would you be excited if you made this discovery?

  • to be honest i don't really know what i would do with the body probably hand it ober to peple who knew what they were doing

    • i agree

  • If I found the mummy I would have thought it was cool. I wouldn't know what to do with it though. The mummy would definitely be hard to find I assume so I don't think I would find one. If I did find one I would be excited about the discovery because then I could sell it to a museum and make money depending on how old it was. It would be cool to have something you found in a museum.

  • If I found this mummy, I would think that it's exciting but terrifying at the same time, and wouldn't help to wish that some other person would've found it rather than me.

    • i agree  it would be kinda scary

  • I think I will be excited to find something that is that old. I will also be excited to investigate more in the zone and see if I can find something else. I will be really happy to make this discovery.

  • I take that this was probably found in the ancient Incan Empire. They used methods such as these to make sacrifices to their various gods. Yes, it's barbaric and saddening, but it is a tradition that the ancient people once followed much like how the Ancient Romans used to bury people underground for their crimes. This is a cool discovery, however, because it will help us understand the ancient Incan culture of the past.

  • I actually would be interested in looking to might find more.

I would be interested about the story what might happen to the person and would try to figure out more and would like to support that.

  • In my opinion i would be terrified at first but then i would realise how big of an discovery i have made. I would not open it but i would encourage proffesional people to work on it and do historical research.

  • I think I would be scared first. It is just the fact that I just found a dead body in that moment that is scary. At the same time I think that is really interesting. I would not open the mummy or anything because I would not want to destroy anything.
