Tecuhtli- one of the highest rankings in Aztecs culture
Acamapichtli- one of the first Aztec emperors- was very important
Power- Cortes was interested by gold gifts so he attacked-Aztecs had more people but the Spaniards had the will to win
Math- same as Mayans- base 20 instead of 10
Science- discovered astronomy- used medicine for healing
Montezuma-fifth Aztec emperor who was killed during the Spanish conquest. turned the empire over to the Spanish
Quetzalcoatl- was a Christ like figure who was in the Aztec times the creator of the earth . He said that he would one day return from his death to take back his throne

Tribes-
- Iroquois- lived in long houses- hunted and used nearly everything on the animal- had many festivals - called themselves the separated nations
- Pueblo- made their houses in cliffs- used wool and cotton- prayed to an ancestral god
Loss of power- lost their power to the whites- they fought with the french against the British
Religion- believed in life after death- totem poles

Pueblo-
Potlatch- a festival where gifts were exchanged and a lot of singing and dancing went on- main purpose was to share the wealth
Ag- women did the planting- used crop rotation- used animal bones to make tools- grew corn, squash- were hunters and gatherers so they would go out and look for food- also fished- did spear fishing and many other ways- hunting- use the animal skins of the animal they were hunting so that the animals would not notice
language and writing- did not have much stuff to write- spoke in different languages
math and science- used symbols for numbers
Trade- they traded item between tribes- once the white man showed up they would also trade with them- would trad furs for weapons. the weapons changed how they hunted
