Impacts of the 1920s

        

          Good   -Invention of the airplane (wright brothers)

                          -Henry Ford creates the model T ford which allowed people easier access to

                             Travel.

                            - Bootlegging leads to Nascar   (a popular sport today)

                           - Economy was booming from 1920 to roughly 1929 (Before great depression)

                          - Major pushes with success for women's rights

                          - Great depression soon leads to FDR’s successful new deal programs

                          - Harlem renaissance brought about many african american artists musicians

                            poets etc,  

                                       

          

          Bad  - Prohibition which was ironically passed to lower crime but created even

                                  more crime.

           - Organized crime came about which was caused mainly by prohibition

                                Bootlegging took place commonly   

                              - The stock market crash of 1929 leaving many broke and jobless

                                - Ultimately causes the great depression

                                - Dust bowl





2.         Causes of the stock market crash:  - Inflation of stock price

                                                                   -Buying on margin

                                                                   - “Watered stock”

                                                                  - uneven distribution of wealth

                                                                  - lack of government regulation

                                                                  - Federal interest rates increased

                                                                  - overproduction of goods

                                                                  - too many loans taken out at banks

                                                                  - banks went broke and many shut down across the   

                                                                    country



           Causes of the great depression:  Tax breaks for the rich ( poor got poorer)

                                                                -Overproduction of goods

                                                               - Underconsumption of goods

                                                               - Agricultural slump due to overproduction

                                                               - Stock market crash of 1929

                                                               - High protective tariff policies



3.  Impact the stock market crash had:  - Left many unemployed

                                                             - many were poor

                                                             - people lost all their stock and all the money that they

                                                              invested

                                                             

   Impact the great depression had:  - FDR’s new deal program created many jobs and made  

                                                            the government stronger  

                                                        - Deficit spending starts

                                                        - Many fascist and communist leaders take over

                                                           throughout the world

                                                        - New deal creates many organizations that are still around

                                                          today  

 

4.       - FDR’s new deal programs which gave many people jobs and built many bridges dams,

           schools ect    

  • Raised taxes

  • Priming the pump

  • Social security for old people and the unemployed  

  • Regulation of the economy




5.  World war 2       - Germany dominates europe with the rise of the Nazi party  

                               - Japan has hopes of dominating Asia

                                - U.S stops trading with Japan

                                - Japan bombs pearl harbor

                                - U.S declares war on Japan

                                - Germany declares war on the U.S

                                - Invasion of D day

                               - Battle of Berlin

                               - Battle of the Bulge

                               - Atomic bombings of Nagasaki and Hiroshima (Ends war in Japan and  

                                prevents operation downfall)

 

6.   Cold war           - USSR wants to spread communism

                              - U.S based on Democracy

                             - USSR based on dictatorship

                             - Americans feared communist attack

                            - Both Russia and U.S had nuclear weapons  (M.A.D)

                            - Stalin does not follow through with promises at Yalta conference

                            - “Red scare”

                            - U.S wants to stop the spread of communism  

                          -Nato vs warsaw pact

                          - East and West Berlin

  





            7.    Korean war-  -Korea is ruled by Japan until the end of WW2

                                         - Split into North and South Korea

                                         - North Korea invades South Korea with the use of Soviet equipment

                                         - United Nations step in to take back south Korea

                                         - U.S uses military force mainly under mcarthur who is later fired  

                                         - Victory in Inchon secures South Korea

                                         - A DMZ is made

                                         - North and South Korea are still split today




         8.  Vietnam war-   Communists in the north begin fighting France for control of the  country.

                    - France establishes the State of Vietnam in the southern half of the country

                    - Ho Chi Minh becomes leader of Dang Lao Dong Vietnam, the Vietnam Worker's  

                     Party, in the north.   America wanted to stop the spread of communism

                       Many were against the war and despised the soldiers when they returned  

                     9.  50’s:  brown vs the board of education rosa parks african americans Korean

                                   war

                          60’s: Kennedy assassination vietnam war Cuban missile crisis Bay of pigs

                                  moon landing

                          70’s: Kent state massacre Gay rights gains popularity Vietnam war ends

                                 Nixon visits China Dolphins become the only team in history to win the title

                                with an undefeated season

                          80’s:  Berlin wall falls Iran contra scandal challenger explosion Iraq conflict

                                  begins first female supreme court justice Reagan star wars chernobyl
