Major Events that led up to involvement in Iraq

The most known reason for involvement in the Iraq war is 911. The day that 4 planes crashed along the east coast. The destruction of the twin towers, a crash at the pentagon, and a crash in a field in Pennsylvania. This was what made President Bush make his final decision to join Iraq, but there was stuff before it. Two US embassies, one in Kenya and one Tanzania, were attacked by truck bombs. The bombings were connected back to Al Qaeda. A total of 220 people were killed in both the bombings together in the truck bombs. The plan was for then to start attacking the us from the embassies, then they would attack the homeland. These major events led up to President Bush declaring war against Al Qaeda and beginning to deploy forces in Iraq right after 911.

  • First, you mean the war in Afghanistan, not Iraq. You do not want to confuse the two. Overall, this is brief with no pictures, personal thoughts or sources listed.
