Universal healthcare has been a big question in today’s world. Universal healthcare is a system where all Americans should have access to affordable, quality healthcare, regardless of their income or financial resources. There are two main sides of universal healthcare, those who support it and those who oppose it.

The main view of supporting universal healthcare is that it’s a fundamental right to have access to affordable, quality healthcare. Some want to replace our current system with a “more fair” system. Studies show that it might actually be a wise public investment. If done correctly, it will return far more to our nation’s prosperity than it costs in tax dollars. Sickness is also very costly, it shrinks workforces and makes it less productive. Good health expands the workforce and makes it more productive.

Those opposed to universal healthcare say it may invite unwanted government involvement into the healthcare system, leading to systemic inefficiencies. There are also concerns that it will interfere with profitability and free market economics within the healthcare industry. Some also view that it’s a handout to “takers” who should be buying healthcare on their own. Care might need to be cut to a lower cost due to its possibility of becoming overwhelming for government budgets.

I personally believe that universal healthcare could be very beneficial for the United States, if done correctly. It has shown to be beneficial in many countries, especially Canada. The current system seems to be lacking effectiveness and with Covid being a major part of today’s world, it might work. The US debt is definitely a big concern, but in the end it could be a good investment for the US and the people. There are a lot of pro’s and con’s about universal healthcare, but if it were to actually work in the US, it would have to be done very precisely and correctly to avoid it failing.

I think that universal healthcare is a good idea but I don't think it would work. It would really only help out who can't afford it and that's a good thing, but there's many downsides to this. Like taxes would more likely get raised and make more people mad.

  • I feel like universal healthcare would be extremely beneficial to the US and other countries around the world. Sadly, we live in a different system than other countries who have this and have been successful with it. While this is something we should strive to accomplish, I feel like it just wouldn't be a thing here.

  • I do not think that universal healthcare would work in a country like the United States. I think that this is something that Joe Biden would come up and would never work because the United States has a way more fluctuating economy and the healthcare system we have now has worked for a long time.

  • I think it might be beneficial to those who can't afford could health care, but I don't think it would do anyone else any good, it would only raise taxes and ruin the economy. I do, however, think it should be cheaper to those less fortunate because you can't control certain sicknesses that you may get.

  • I personally would much rather pay snipits of a $500,000 hospital bill instead of the full thing over time. However, this being a reality will most likely never occur due to how big the US is population wise and how money sadly seems to be more important than peoples lives, especially to insurance companies.

  • I think it would be ideal for the US to have universal healthcare, but I don't think it is realisitc. Although it may be free to some, eventually the tax price would raise, and people will not be happy about that. In the end it never is actually free, and it's not realisitc.

  • I don't think that universal health care would work in the US our economy is so fragile in some instanses that it would just end up cost more to bring back from depression than it would be like for Switzerland where everything is practically free.

  • I think that universal health care would benefit a lot of people in the U.S. and should be open to everyone. Yes there are some cons like high taxes but i feel that it could be more beneficial for the high taxes so the health care could help more people, because you never know what may happen to friends, family members, and or even yourself.

  • I feel as if it is a great thing that will never exist here it is a t good to be true type of deal but I do think the united states should have it with all of the poor people here it would greatly help the heath of these fifty states and as much as I say it will never happen I realy want it to because some people need it
