Before I begin, let me say, I 100% agree that 1st and 2nd wave feminism were extremely helpful. Should women have equal pay? Yes, and they do. Should women have just as many rights under the constitution as men? Yes, and guess what? They do. Women and men, systematically and categorically, are equal in America. Are there still some men and women who hold prejudice against that idea? Yes, there will always be. But it is less than 10% of Americans. How pointless is that?

3rd wave feminism is destroying everything feminism originally stood for. All these blue-haired, big-bellied land whales parade around claiming that because I am a man I owe them something. It sounds like less of an "empowering movement" and more like a "sack of potatoes". In modern American culture, men owe absolutely nothing to women, and women owe nothing to men.

Along with being an excuse for being lazy, feminism is also an excuse to be a bully. It was once the idea of equalizing all humans, now it is the idea of putting women above men. The 3rd wave of feminism does nothing but promote misandrist ideas and just be downright mean. Now I realize I may sound like a whiny little baby, but it is not just men who say this. Many women in positions of power will tell you that they are also attacked by feminists every day. A prime example is when a feminist leader attacked Ivanka Trump for wearing a pink dress. Yes, you read that correctly, a pink dress. What was the point the feminist was trying to make? That Ivanka was "Weak, and [did] not understand that to be tough, you must also look tough. That means not dressing girlie." I personally believe that a woman can have just as effective of a point regardless of whether she is in a pants-suit or a ball-gown.

So, in summary: 3rd wave feminism is no longer about helping women, but rather attacking men and assuring that non-feminist women feel poorly about themselves.

Do you think that 3rd wave feminism has any real effective points? Elaborate on your point.

Not modern feminism. I think that the 1st and 2nd waves did great things for America, but the problem is that those teens and young women who were apart of 2nd wave became adults, and found careers in feminism. They had to manufacture oppression around them to generate an income.

As a woman, do you think that you are oppressed in modern society? As a man, do you think that you are oppressed by modern feminism?

As a man, I can say that modern society does not oppress me, but rather feminism does. Only once, I was told by a feminist peer that I should help them because "I am a man". I inquired what they meant by this, and they said that past men had disadvantaged them, and so I had to make up for it. I told them to go pound sand.

  • Very well thought out and well written piece. You could have changed a few words as not to be rude in a few places, but overall, well done. You also have some great replies that deserve you replying back to them. You only replied to one person, and with only one page of comments, you should have replied to everyone.

  • I feel that 3rd wave feminism is just ladies that just want to bully men and other woman of what they do and what they wear , which these are adults that are probably doing it which sounds like young kids fighting over what toy they want and what they want to help with.Whoever these woman are they just fight about really stupid topics, which I agree with you 100% that this wave needs to act like adults and find a career that they are happy with and everything will be fine after that. I definitey thinking that this feminism is really harsh , as in history way back when the US fighted for equallity for every single type of person in the US, which the US has always tried to fix equality to make every person happy.Any person can do whatever they want to do for a career, and think of being thankful for having equality the same as anyone that lives in US. Everyone is different and everyone is a human in this world , each person has life to live which makes us all equal. I totally agree with your answers Aaron.

  • I feel as though 3rd wave feminism is indeed beginning to become radicalized and is curving away from the trail of real feminism. I agree with you in saying that men owe nothing to women and vice versa, and I do think there is starting to become a problem where radical feminists are hurting the cause rather than helping it. However, true feminism promotes equality for everyone, and I think that there is still a gap that needs to be filled, especially in regards to respect. Everytime that a boy loses to a girl in a game, he receives tons of comments criticizing how he's weaker than a girl. The phrase, "you punch like a girl!", and other versions of it are constantly used with the goal to degrade men. People use these expressions to show how they still believe that women are weaker and the inferior gender. I would not say that I am very much oppressed in modern society, as I have many privileges that people in other countries or of other ethnicities do not have. However, women of color are constantly degraded and put down, so feminism is still needed. Feminism should be able equal rights for all, and I think that message is starting to get lost in society.

  • I believe that the radical third wave feminism in our day has no real effective points, since, like you said, all it is really does these days is put down men and women who are not feminist. All of the points that the radical feminists try to make seem, at least to me, to be drowned out as Karen memes. As a man, I do not believe I am oppressed by modern feminism because I cannot take these extreme feminists seriously. I agree with you that women deserve all the rights that men have, but when it comes to putting the extreme feminists above men, all I see are Karens giving out free meme material.

  • As a woman, I think that I am oppressed in modern society. Everytime a teacher needed something to be lifted or carried, they would choose "young, strong men". They would state that the boxes are too heavy for us women. They oppressed young women into thinking that men have more ability than women do. Feminism has helped to solve many of these problems in school and the work field. However, I agree that feminisim is starting to get out of hand, and feminist are starting to abuse their power. Feminist are trying to find anyway to stay relvent in the news and make a profit which includes putting other non-femist down, and espically putting men down.

  • I believe that you made some great points that are not talked about enough. Instead what is talked about is their opinions or their forms of protests that are usually overexuberated for their justification. However, it has to be very carefully talked about. Their are some great people out there trying to fight for rights we take for granted every day here in America that other women don't have. You can't just collectively bash the third wave of feminism because there's too many women abroad whose opinions and abilities are suffocated on the daily. Advocates try to take action in order to make the leaps and bounds America did with the first and second wave for other countries. Although it may not seem like many people are doing this in the U.S. I'm sure there are many, they're just not the hottest news compared to what some of the present day feminist do. We are privilidged to live in America and don't see how things are actually going on in other countries. We mostly just see the ones who can be considered bullyish or over privilidged. Because of this, we can often see the third wave of feminism as completely useless, because it doesn't serve as much of a purpose here as it does in other parts of the world, but we have to remember that other people are not as fortunate as us.

  • I agree that some present day feminists do have the traits of being outrageous and obnoxious. I also strongly agree that some women have grown to bully men into thinking that they all owe them something, and that some feminists have taken on a victim mentality.  I do recognize that as a very unproductive way to enforce change. I however, would not say that all modern day feminists share those vices. That should not become the face of the movement. I think that now feminism is more about demanding respect and equal treatment in places such as work environments . The modern day feminist movement is also used to take a stand to harassment.

    • You make a very valid point. I agree that some modern-day feminists most likely do not try to actively drag down men. I also should state I agree with the idea about quelching harassment in the workplace. You stake a good point against my own, and I should have definitely considered those ideas whilst writing my post. Thank you for bringing a new point of view into my eyes.
